No Riff Randall for you!

Randall "Humble" Pie (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 22 August 2014 21:44 (nine years ago) link

I can start Radiohead right now.

nate woolls, Saturday, 23 August 2014 09:13 (nine years ago) link

can I put my name down for something? would there be enough people interested to make an electroclash poll worthwhile? (factoring in the possibility of a sweeping electroclash revival by 2019 or whenever the poll would happen)

soref, Saturday, 23 August 2014 13:01 (nine years ago) link

electroclash poll would be amazing.

toby, Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:42 (nine years ago) link

115. Aphex Twin - Stevie D
116. Blondie - Bee OK
117. Electroclash - soref

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:49 (nine years ago) link

I'd volunteer to host one or substitute if the spreadsheet math didn't frighten me.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:52 (nine years ago) link

90% of poll running duties is math tbh

birdman junior dad (some dude), Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:53 (nine years ago) link

I was spreadsheet illiterate before Zeppelin but it turned out not to be too hard.

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:56 (nine years ago) link

A lot of it is just punching in stuff, and eventually doing some organization.

Randall "Humble" Pie (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 23 August 2014 14:57 (nine years ago) link

less math more data entry tbh

resulting post (rogermexico.), Saturday, 23 August 2014 15:15 (nine years ago) link

You could outsource, or at least hire an intern.

OH MY GOD HE'S OOGLEEE (Leee), Saturday, 23 August 2014 17:18 (nine years ago) link

Worst part is data entry. 40 different ways to rank and spell the same song.

pplains, Saturday, 23 August 2014 17:19 (nine years ago) link

Ha, yes. "Battle of Evermore" and "The Battle of Evermore," gotta get them together. And take the numbering off the front end.

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Saturday, 23 August 2014 17:42 (nine years ago) link

Anyway, Nate and Otis, whatever you two wanna work out is cool. Might be time to shift from the fascist tyranny of a numbered list to a system based on pure clean energy levels and auras and chakras and e-meter readings and whatnot.

Cindy Operahouse (WilliamC), Saturday, 23 August 2014 19:08 (nine years ago) link

If there's no objections I'm going to start the Radiohead poll in the next hour.

nate woolls, Sunday, 24 August 2014 10:26 (nine years ago) link

::stands up, sternly furrows brow:: "well, I for one" ::smiles:: "think that's a lovely idea!"

birdman junior dad (some dude), Sunday, 24 August 2014 11:18 (nine years ago) link

you do it to yourself

resulting post (rogermexico.), Sunday, 24 August 2014 17:59 (nine years ago) link

two weeks pass...

There's only the Radiohead poll going on now, and you all usually stagger these things, right? I think if I'm to kick off the AE poll, now is as a good a time as any for me.

Hakeem Olajuwon Howard (Leee), Monday, 8 September 2014 00:24 (nine years ago) link

That's cool -- Οὖτις was ready to start XTC a couple of weeks ago if nobody else was ready to start one, but you're at the front of the line, so fire away.

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Monday, 8 September 2014 00:42 (nine years ago) link

Autechre poll -- ILM ballot poll #57

Hakeem Olajuwon Howard (Leee), Monday, 8 September 2014 01:25 (nine years ago) link

Sign me up for Jimmy Jam and Lewis

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis

FKATlovestoFU better (Spottie), Monday, 8 September 2014 05:39 (nine years ago) link

OK so Radiohead results are happening now, then Autechre... then what? Is ET gonna do Spacemen 3 (will totally vote in that if so)

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 23:00 (nine years ago) link

Good question -- I think he's still dealing with a bunch of real life concerns? I don't think donna rouge is even posting anymore, so somebody needs to claim Chic Org if it's going to happen soon. Apparently Clemenza has about a 3-week window per year to run a poll and we missed it for this year. Maybe XTC next, since you wanted to switch them and P-Funk.

I'd post an updated list, but so much is up in the air right now.

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 23:57 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, sorry--I just couldn't give it proper attention while school's on. I haven't sorted it out with mookieproof, who was going to help, but I'll be ready to go July 1st, or soon after if another poll's already underway.

clemenza, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 00:14 (nine years ago) link

July 1st eh

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 01:52 (nine years ago) link

July 1st, sometime between 9:30-10:00 a.m. That's what I meant to say.

clemenza, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 02:05 (nine years ago) link

You're not going to be grilling out or something that day?

pplains, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:01 (nine years ago) link

117. Electroclash - soref

Yay !

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:03 (nine years ago) link

Would anybody be interested in a Siouxsie and The Banshees/The Creatures poll ?

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:05 (nine years ago) link

YES, big time.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:06 (nine years ago) link

I know them well enough to run it if we think enough people would participate.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:14 (nine years ago) link

I'd certainly vote in that.

On the Classic Rock results thread there was a call for an AM Radio Gold poll. You can put me down for that. Will be the perfect antidote to a bit of G0th.

Jeff W, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 10:04 (nine years ago) link

Can I volunteer for a Eurovision poll pls?

nxd, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 10:30 (nine years ago) link

Is ET gonna do Spacemen 3 (will totally vote in that if so)

Still need to be in a holding pattern with this until October.

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 18:46 (nine years ago) link

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 18:49 (nine years ago) link

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 20:11 (nine years ago) link

Wondered this morning what the average placement of my #1 votes would be, but the amt of work that would take is nutty.

59. Yo La Tengo/Dump - clemenza (Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 9:30-10 a.m. EDT)

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 21:25 (nine years ago) link

line 115 is a bit messed up.

i was thinking about switching Spoon with The Boo Radleys because of Spoon's new album. it's the Boo Radleys so no i will keep it the way it is as that is the one i'm most looking forward to.

Bee OK, Thursday, 11 September 2014 01:55 (nine years ago) link

so Hendrix needs a pollrunner? I'm up for taking that on.

some dude, Thursday, 11 September 2014 02:28 (nine years ago) link

FKATlovestoFU better (Spottie), Thursday, 11 September 2014 02:58 (nine years ago) link

really really excited for YLT poll, them being my favorite band and whatnot

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 11 September 2014 03:00 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, my enthusiasm's low on Hendrix (for running the poll, not for voting). Thanks for taking that one.

Oops at those line breaks. I'll fix it in the next full list.
