I'm always happy when I'll Come Running starts but by the end of it I always find myself thinking I wish he'd stop repeating the title. Don't even think he does it that many times, but it seems to always bug me slightly for some reason.

No One Receiving was the last song I cut from my list.

I've liked "I'll Come Running" a whole lot more since a friend pointed out that the lyric could be taken to mean: one day you'll come to visit and I'll come running to see you on your merry way again. an "I vant to be alone" song.

still I knew someone who hated it so much he'd immediately flip the album over and never get to hear innocent little follow-up track and side-closer "Another Green World". yes, I'm the one quoted in Geeta's book!

Just wanted to say that I've been listening to B&AS as a result of this thread, and while it's not quite TTMBS, it's pretty fucking great :)

even though it was my first Eno vocal album and contains my 2 fave Eno songs ever (Here and Julie), over time I've found Before And After Science less exciting and convincing than Tiger and Another, because it's not as well-integrated as the latter and not as solid as the former.

there IS a structure to it and side 2 is one of the best Eno sides as a whole, but I feel that Energy Fools The Magician would likely be a weak to average tune on a Brand X or Weather Report album and ultimately Through Hollow Lands can't hold a candle to Harold Budd. overall a really good album by anyone else's standards, but as Eno goes a grab-bag of greats and also-rans.

i wish there was some song that took that brief feeling and extended it for several minutes
i think it's possible to make this happen with rather minimal effort, if and when you have the time!

Somehow didn't make but ballot but I love Fripp's solo in this.

I always thought the "ready Freddy" line was a reference to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" but that song didn't come out until 1979.

Another one that didn't make my ballot somehow. Tho I will admit that Eno's Dadaist tendencies and flat delivery at this point in his career can sometimes put me off a bit("I'll Come Running" is another victim here).

Much prefer the Van Dyke Parks-esque whimsy and flow of couplets like this:

I love the impossible to figure out Phil Collins drums in this.

"Evening Star" was in the top half of my ballot. I love that style of soloing from Fripp.

I love how on "Sky Saw" and "Kurt's Rejoinder" the basses seem to TALK to each other; it's like eavesdropping on inanimate objects.

I didn't vote in this but now I wish I did. Cindy Tells Me feels very low.

I voted 'Cindy Tells Me' pretty high. I just realised I forgot about 'Blank Frank' in my "vote for every song off HCTWJ" ballot. Huh. It's not actually anywhere near one of my favourites, though it's always better when I listen to it than when I remember it - my memory cuts out all the cool weird bits that come in throughout.

This is lovely. Didn't actually know Apollo before.

All I knew from it was "Deep Blue Day" (Trainspotting sdtk) until a couple of years ago. This is about as nakedly emotional as music gets for me, but somehow not cloying.

Great start to the top 20. Taking Tiger Mountain is so beautiful and such a perfect end to that album.

whoa, emil.y!! "An Ending" is one of his best!

oh! that reminds me -- i hope everyone has watched "for all mankind"? i just remembered that it's saved on my dvr (lol) and that i could just have it on in the background!

I had Spinning Away really high – maybe too high, but I didn't want all of side 2 from BaAS to occupy the entirety of my first five picks.

When I played it the other day in my car, my 6 year-old daughter said it was so-so. She volunteered that she didn't like the beat but thought the singing was really good. Already a music critic.
