If only we could have a thread-specific autoreplace that changes "Sway" to "Riad n' the Bedouins"...

cwkiii, Monday, 16 June 2014 05:04 (nine years ago) link

totally fuckin stoked for classic rock canon obviously, and i say this as a man who completely bogged down in his plans to follow obsessively several of the last couple of results threads - but this, THIS i will set aside days for, i will set alarms for.

Amazed we've got this far without a Can poll. And Arthur Russell.

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Monday, 16 June 2014 12:29 (nine years ago) link

can poll: la lechera sits in a darkened room, computer screen reflected in her fixed eyes as she votes 'mother sky', clears cookies, repeats

mookieproof, Monday, 16 June 2014 12:45 (nine years ago) link

I'd been waiting for a giant sandbox to be installed in my living room, I wanted to be able to feel sand on my feel while running the poll

some dude, Monday, 16 June 2014 13:16 (nine years ago) link

what's the matter, sh1pley, got sand in yr feel?

pplains, Monday, 16 June 2014 13:43 (nine years ago) link

sometimes i cross my eyes but not my t's

some dude, Monday, 16 June 2014 13:45 (nine years ago) link

I'll run an Arthur Russell if there's sufficient interest.

I want to withdraw from Royal Trux

the fourth death of ernest borgnine (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 10:01 (nine years ago) link

OK. Should I drop it entirely or does someone else want to take that one on?

Should a single-artist poll run concurrently with Classic Rock? I don't know how long a nomination period some dude has in mind, then add 2 weeks for voting and a week for results...

Voting should start next week, I think. Seems fine to have a single artist poll overlapping imo.

some dude, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 12:58 (nine years ago) link

when is Royal Trux supposed to run? I might be able to take that on if it's after July.

polyamanita (sleeve), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:38 (nine years ago) link

imo no harm in keeping the single artist polls running concurrently with genre/category polls

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:56 (nine years ago) link

Trux is at #90, so not until late 2015 or early 2016 at our current pace.

I could start Eno today or tomorrow (busy with work now but will be pretty free in a couple of weeks when it's time to count), but Leee is ahead of me with Autechre and I want him to have first shot if he's ready to go.

I'll take the Royal Trux then xp

polyamanita (sleeve), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 15:52 (nine years ago) link

Cool ty sleeve

Paging Leee

WilliamC, Thursday, 19 June 2014 17:37 (nine years ago) link

Not that I'm saying the Ae poll is going to happen -- partly because of busyness, but mostly because I'm out of title puns -- but I was thinking of throwing just about everything into one single poll: Ae along with Gescom and Ae remixes, and maybe even Ae remixed by others.

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Thursday, 19 June 2014 18:06 (nine years ago) link

so this mean Brian Eno or Chic Organization is next, nice.

Bee OK, Friday, 20 June 2014 01:11 (nine years ago) link

OK, I'm going to try to get Eno going today.

WilliamC, Friday, 20 June 2014 14:19 (nine years ago) link

hell yeah

polyamanita (sleeve), Friday, 20 June 2014 14:22 (nine years ago) link

Somebody point me to a poll that used a 30-track ballot -- I don't want to have to figure out the points from scratch.

WilliamC, Friday, 20 June 2014 14:27 (nine years ago) link

Check that -- I'm just going to make it the standard 20.

WilliamC, Friday, 20 June 2014 14:34 (nine years ago) link

It's just like the 20, but tracks 21-30 just dip into single digit values.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 20 June 2014 14:35 (nine years ago) link

Oh yeah, that's right. (Been a while since I've done one of these!)

WilliamC, Friday, 20 June 2014 14:37 (nine years ago) link

oh please do 30 for Eno!

polyamanita (sleeve), Friday, 20 June 2014 15:07 (nine years ago) link

stax was 30 iirc

mookieproof, Friday, 20 June 2014 23:36 (nine years ago) link

Generative polling -- no two ballots are alike, 77 million combinations, etc etc -- Dead Finks Don't Vote — ILM Artist Poll #55 — BRIAN ENO

but mostly because I'm out of title puns

Could you put me down for Herbie Hancock? I have a hunch people will be really feeling Herbie Hancock in 2019 or whenever it ends up happening.

Will do!

WilliamC, Monday, 30 June 2014 19:40 (nine years ago) link

Karl Malone, Friday, 11 July 2014 15:12 (nine years ago) link

Who's going next? I can't tell from Leee's cryptic posts whether or not he plans to do an Autechre poll at all. Does Donna Rouge post here anymore? Does Elvis T have time to tackle Spacemen 3? Radiohead? YLT et al while Clemenza's on summer break?

it's not rocker science (WilliamC), Friday, 11 July 2014 15:28 (nine years ago) link

I'm available to do Radiohead.

nate woolls, Friday, 11 July 2014 16:13 (nine years ago) link

lol sorry I didn't realize I was being cryptic, yeah I'm up, presentation is probably going to be buttsy though I warn everyone now.

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Friday, 11 July 2014 16:44 (nine years ago) link

Well, whoever wants to go next can probably get rolling -- maybe Monday? Eno is finishing today, and Classic Rock voting ends Tuesday. That would put the next voting period during Classic Rock rollout, finishing afterward.

I'd suggest moving the Ramones up, but I know TM just finished Dylan.

I'd second that suggestion if tm is up to the task.
