YOUR WINNER:

I grew up on the crime side, the New York Times side
Staying alive was no jive
At second hands, moms bounced on old men
So then we moved to Shaolin land
A young youth, yo rockin the gold tooth, 'Lo goose
Only way, I begin to gee off was drug loot
And let's start it like this son, rollin with this one
And that one, pullin out gats for fun
But it was just a dream for the teen, who was a fiend
Started smokin woolies at sixteen
And running up in gates, and doing hits for high stakes
Making my way on fire escapes
No question I would speed, for cracks and weed
The combination made my eyes bleed
No question I would flow off, and try to get the dough all
Sticking up white boys in ball courts
My life got no better, same damn 'Lo sweater
Times is ruff and tuff like leather
Figured out I went the wrong route
So I got with a sick ass click and went all out
Catchin keys from across seas
Rollin in MPV's, every week we made forty G's
Yo nigga respect mine, or anger the tech nine
Ch-chick-POW! Move from the gate now

Wow....didn't see that coming, honestly. This is one verse that never made a huge impression on me, a few moments notwithstanding.

seriously... I feel like this must be some kinda projected Cuban Linx love or something.

if I had remembered to vote I probably woulda picked ODB on "Chessboxin'", so I'm glad to see that one did well. but wtf at no votes for "I be that insane nigga from the psycho ward"! one of the first verses that pops into my head whenever I think of this album.

I've never been that big on "Cream", or for that matter, either of the other two ballads on the album.

No votes for Masta Killa on "Chessboxin'"
(which I totally fucked up by not voting for, as did you) = DESTROY ILM

no. that verse isn't anything like his verses on ob4cl

its just that some ppl are moved by the raw emotive power of it vs. 'raw i'ma give it to ya / with no trivia' or something

^^^

I was gonna say, it's an emotional and very personal chronicle. I didn't vote for it, but I might've predicted the win.

seven months pass...

My-my-my-my clan is thick like plaster
Bust ya,
slash ya
Slit a n***a back like a Dutch Masta Killer
Style jumped off and Killa, Hill-er
I was the thriller in the Ali-Frazier, Manila!
I came down with phat tracks that combine and interlock
Like getting smashed by a cinder block
Pow! Now it's all over
N****z seeing pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars and green clovers

^^^ was robbed, but so was absolutely every single choice in this poll, amazing how this album refuses to get old. Nineteen years ago this month! Crazy.

I would have gone for Deck's verse on CREAM because it's just so sad

smh at the FOUR people who wrote "Cold Killin' labels" in this thread. Guess we need RapGenius after all.
