Yeah he got really vehement really quickly...I wasn't expecting that level of a reaction from Ru on a popular podcast like Maron's, even though I had a pretty good idea of where he stood already.

The Steve Brill interview in the 500 episode is really something - much more like the early episode.
You hear about all the shit that's gone down between them, and the 'old' marc and you're thinking yeah wow he's changed a lot AND THEN you hear all the stuff that has gone down just within the last few years and it's like omg he still is kind of this walking nightmare of insecurity still

the stuff about the Mighty Ducks scene that got cut; 'You scared some of the ducks' was priceless

the fact that Brill is even talking to him still is kind of a miracle

Hollywood's such a weird place

His tv show seems like it should be better than it is but it just hedges its bets too much.

I haven't watched since the first couple of episodes of the first season

It hasnt really gotten any better. He has good people on the show but the stuff thats supposed to be farcical just doesnt go far enough.

I was skeptical about the "the special topic for the 500th episode is... ME!" but the Brill interview was kind of great.

i felt a bit awkward about the brother and the mom interviews, but Brill is def worth it

halfway into the Chris Cornell interview -- he's really chatty, it's actually pretty good!

I loved how Cornell was bold enough to call bullshit on Mother Love Bone being the pivotal act in Seattle's 1988-92 boom, instead saying with no humility whatsoever that Soundgarden was the band that turned the tables. (For the record, that's how I remember it happening as well.)

yeah I know it can lapse into massive ego but I do like how he was like our band fucking RULES and we melted faces

and I liked that he pressed how their Led Zeppelin/Sabbath riffage got serious gasface from everyone else at the time, and YET they still melted faces

god I fucking loved them. I went to the last reunion show thinking it was probably going to suck and Cornell just wasn't who he used to be anymore and then they melted MY face and I was happy again :D

The story about the "sex tape"! she told it with such righteous indignation and it turned out to just be a student film with a kissing scene.

It was like every story lacked connective tissue-- I flew there to yell at him and then he followed me down the street and then this waitress started crying and I knew they were banging and then we got married

I didn't mind, felt like a pretty unreliable narrator on a lot of levels but entertaining. Agree Maron mackin' was a bit much though.

It was a good old fashioned WTF with a kind of wacko comedian with crazy family issues that I've never heard of before and probably will never hear of again.

I'd actually heard of her before because of the Pitbull advocacy, but I don't think I ever knew she was a standup.
