i should walk around schools, find the most popular kids, and give them megaphones

no but the tweets r only bigger when ur looking at someones profile so its all their tweets not comparing them to celebrities or w/e

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:24 (ten years ago) link

you can't stop me from giving kids megaphones!

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:25 (ten years ago) link

it's like giving the popular kids megaphones connected to a pair of headphones

Wahaca Flocka Flame (DJP), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:27 (ten years ago) link

markers, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:42 (ten years ago) link

imho facebooks design was one of the main things that made it successful, it was way ahead of its time, it started to get muddled as it tried to do everything in the world and serve ads etc, but it used to be pretty great from a ui/ux perspective

lag∞n, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:52 (ten years ago) link

Yeah it ws!

sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:55 (ten years ago) link

I would not smash Facebook in any of its incarnations

Wahaca Flocka Flame (DJP), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 16:58 (ten years ago) link

k3vin k., Thursday, 24 April 2014 16:28 (ten years ago) link

omg i just turned the new profile on and then said i didn't want it and there is STILL that huge ad saying try the new profile design on top of my TL, why?

k3vin k., Thursday, 24 April 2014 16:30 (ten years ago) link

they're going to force you to get it eventually, so you may as well just learn to like it now

markers, Thursday, 24 April 2014 18:08 (ten years ago) link

such is the way of things now.

Also, I didn't even know about this story until today, but totally agree that Twitter is useless for "controlling the conversation"

Another Eulogy for Twitter: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/04/a-eulogy-for-twitter/361339/

Some of this rings true. It does feel a bit less fun to me, and a lot of the stuff that used to be fun to join, like shared shouting at the telly, seems to have stopped. I used to think it was just me/the people I follow, but maybe it's wider than that?

stet, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:44 (ten years ago) link

Also I'm pretty sure the continual fucking-around they're doing with the site and the apps is making it completely bewildering for new people, rather than a fun challenge like it used to be

stet, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:46 (ten years ago) link

Yeah I pine for the days of making pithy commments about x-factor with chris addison and caitlin moran and tracey thorn as well
