Wait, did I miss the Bob Dylan poll?

austinato (Austin), Friday, 18 April 2014 13:25 (ten years ago) link

No, it or the classic rock poll is coming next. I HOPE.

hey, big dispender (WilliamC), Friday, 18 April 2014 13:31 (ten years ago) link

Can I get a mod to add "VOTING ENDS Tuesday April 22nd at Midnight CST" to the S-K thread?

Damnit Janet Weiss & The Riot Grrriel (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 19 April 2014 17:16 (ten years ago) link

Ghost Mod has acted.

Dylan next? Any objections to opening voting during the Sleater-Kinney rollout?

objects in mirror may be closer than (WilliamC), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 17:27 (ten years ago) link

who's running that? can we have a super long voting window?

balls, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 18:36 (ten years ago) link

I vote for super long voting window, because then it'll push back the Autechre poll and my preparation ("preparation") for it.

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 18:46 (ten years ago) link

I vote for a super long voting window for Dylan because of the amount of material to be re-listened (and in some cases, listened) to.

Inside Lewellyn Sinclair (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 18:52 (ten years ago) link

I vote for a longish Dylan voting window and Classic Rock to run at the same time. I know that might be an unpopular opinion. Staggered results rollouts, of course.

objects in mirror may be closer than (WilliamC), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 19:35 (ten years ago) link

Since the classic rock poll is formed around a predetermined list, intensive listening will be minimized (unless you've never turned on a radio or gone out in public for the last 30 years).

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 19:54 (ten years ago) link

I was thinking of rolling out Dylan nomination/voting thread this weekend, but only if Grisso doesn't mind. And I'm fine with however long a voting period people want -- 3 weeks at least, but really since I'm taking a short vacation over Memorial Day, 4 weeks would work well for me. I won't have time to tabulate and prepare results until the last week of May anyway.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 20:12 (ten years ago) link

You've got a lot of nerve to say you are my friend if you won't have time to tabulate and prepare results until the last week of May anyway.

clemenza, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 20:32 (ten years ago) link

XP I don't mind. I can probably start revealing my sub polls tomorrow. I don't know yet how long my main rollout will be tho.

now face west

mookieproof, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 01:51 (ten years ago) link

If Dylan results are more than a month away, something really should run concurrently, and classic rock is the best option, imo.

objects in mirror may be closer than (WilliamC), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 01:57 (ten years ago) link

If people want a quicker turnaround on Dylan, I can do that too. It would mean shutting off the poll around May 15, probably. My out-of-pocket dates are the 23rd-26th, so it'll either have to be all done by then or have the results wait til afterward. A longer one would be easier for me, but I will defer to the masses.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 12:21 (ten years ago) link

(And concurrent with Classic Rock is fine by me, but that depends on some dude.)

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 12:22 (ten years ago) link

Dylan poll should be between four and six months long IMO, like some major medieval festival coming once every twenty-five years or something.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 20:08 (ten years ago) link

Just to clarify--I'm sure you got it--my Dylan post above was meant as a joke.

clemenza, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 22:38 (ten years ago) link

Kinda hoping there's a Worst Songs side poll for Dylan, and then I kinda want to poll Elton's worst against Dylan's.

― Inside Lewellyn Sinclair (cryptosicko), Thursday, April 24, 2014 4:11 PM

just throwing this out there

Oh there will be a worst Dylan songs poll, for sure.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 27 April 2014 00:36 (ten years ago) link

Will have a first-take ballot to you within 30 minutes.

clemenza, Sunday, 27 April 2014 01:25 (ten years ago) link

is something going to run along with Bod Dylan since the voting is open for such a long time. either "Classic Rock" or Outkast would work i would think. i know it was brought up already so this is more of a bump.

Bee OK, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:41 (nine years ago) link

I could do Outkast probably starting this weekend

kidd-gilchrist-douglas-roberts- (Spottie), Thursday, 1 May 2014 14:45 (nine years ago) link

Hot Bod Dylan

You may call me Bod, you may call me Zimmy

A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 May 2014 14:55 (nine years ago) link

Two artist polls going at once is kinda unusual though, no? Of course, I probably wouldn't be saying this if I didn't want to vote in both and was worried about dividing my attention too much (Dylan's catalogue is daunting enough to re-evaluate without throwing Outkast on top of it).

Funk autocorrect (cryptosicko), Thursday, 1 May 2014 16:10 (nine years ago) link

i gotta clarify that i def can't do oasis, sorry- back at college and still settling in to a more hectic work schedule. iirc someone else had volunteered to do it if i pulled out

At this pace you can get your doctorate before Oasis comes up.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 15 May 2014 21:18 (nine years ago) link

Sooner or later, you'll feel that momentum kick in.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 15 May 2014 21:54 (nine years ago) link

some dude, is Classic Rock a go during/after Dylan results?

how many get done a year?

In the early days, about 20. So far this year, four.

Those four ruled tho.

i am an unpredictable Neil Young kind of classic rock pollrunner, not a corporate rock clock puncher. the label will hear the album when it's ready.
