the BB song is a Pellegrino after a day drinking good beer.

Love "Return of the Mack", but gotta vote for ChemBros here

I didn't say Backstreet was a bad song. I said it broke the momentum.

(Oh, and it's a bad song.)

Narrowed it down to three. Any further than that and I'd rather cut off my own hand.

"Return of the Mack" (C&J X-tended Radio Edit) - Mark Morrison
"Pony" (Extended Mix)- Ginuwine
"On & On" (Clean Version) - Erykah Badu

Own(ed) this. Loved it. Impossible to pick.

oh man, a collection of 'clean' versions of rap songs takes me back, wherein a young Neanderthal was actually able to hear these songs without invoking the ire of his somewhat conservative mother.

made it more shocking when I realized what Snoop was *actually* saying in "Gin and Juice" after 'not with a cherry on top'.

Neanderthal, Friday, 4 April 2014 18:51 (ten years ago) link

"Been There, Done That" was the Dre song that finally made me ask 'was I wrong that Dre was dope all along?'. Especially that prolonged string 'riff' at the end.

I remember not getting "Snoop's Upside Ya Head" cos I had no real idea what 80's bounce was and missed the sinister g-funk synths, but for all intents and purposes it was a fairly hot single on a fairly dull album.

"Return of the Mack" was totally in my early teenage wheelhouse, that and stuff like Real McCoy and that euro-dance stuff the local station played.

Neanderthal, Friday, 4 April 2014 18:58 (ten years ago) link

Not sure at all if it's the best of these, but the one that's jumping out at me yelling 'Play me now' is 702's "Steelo".

I feel this is gonna be a reprise of "Return of the Mack" versus "No Diggity" poll we already did, but: YOU LIED TO ME...

Tuomas, Friday, 4 April 2014 21:29 (ten years ago) link

I was ready to vote "Return of the Mack" but at the last second had to go "Block Rockin' Beats" for the sheer oddity of the Chemicals Brothers rubbing elbows with the U.S. mainstream for a quick second.

Ugh, saw the title "I'll Be" and immediately thought of that Edwin McCain song.

About 4 of my favorite songs ever are on this thing.

I only know the original versions of all of these and not the remixes used on Party To Go but yeah "Return of the Mack" wins every poll always and forever.

wtf there's a soso def version of "In My Bed" where do I sign up

billstevejim, Saturday, 5 April 2014 16:39 (ten years ago) link

That "In My Bed" remix is way better than the original.

Top 3 is technically right, sad Badu only mustered 2 votes, and ...

"Steelo" (Album Edit) - 702	0

:(
