i am only a critic as it were but adam seems p hot to me too, also i caught myself making his frustration-noise the other day and couldn't tell if it was in male-monkey imitation or not

He's bad in the Major Barbara scenes and it is intentional but it's not successfull. He doesn't pull it off but that's possibly the directors fault or just the fault of the filming schedule.

These things take time.

Just finally finished S3. I honestly feel like Andrew Rannellis might be the best thing about this show at this point.

They really went all-in on the Hannah and Marnie being terrible people thing huh

i've had the last five episodes on my tivo since they aired; the season they all got jobs and started boring lives was the season they lost my attention

I didn't know Andrew Rannells was in the original cast of The Book of Mormon; he's replacing NP Harris as Hedwig on Broadway in a few weeks. He massively irritates me.

I didn't believe that. It made her decision too simple. Art or Mammon? Hmm, which shall it be? In reality people do both. I suppose I've never believed her memoir sounded good or necessary so I found her puritanical response especially hard to take.

Her NYer piece last week was alright if a bit by the numbers. Not sure what she expects us to take away from it. Seems a bit like writing as therapy. Which is fine, but keep it to yourself. When you share that kind of stuff, does it lose its efficacy?

on the one hand, the breitbart agenda here is pretty loathsome, but this exchange between the writer and a current Oberlin student is pretty fucked imo:

yes i know i am, i'm not disputing anything in Dunham's book (which i loved), but doesn't it matter if someone is telling the truth about a rape? that's important right? i'm not being glib - the whole notion that this needed to be investigated by breitbart is completely ridiculous, but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around "It's just not important if they are telling the truth." i don't think she's lying, and all the discrepancies the writer points out are so flimsy, like "oh, he actually didn't have a mustache and purple pants" and "he graduated a semester later than Dunham said." it's an obnoxious hit piece. "Whether or not a victim is telling the truth is irrelevant" - does anyone agree with this? i'm speaking generally, not about LD - the quote seems insane to me and i wanted to see how ILX felt about it, if it's a common sentiment going over my head. and i don't mean asking/grilling a victim about the veracity of their claims - that is unacceptable unless abundant evidence suggests otherwise...but whether or not a rape occurred matters, yeah? am i just cherry-picking a wrongheaded line from a college student or is this more of an accepted notion than i thought? that's all. i'm genuinely confused by it and want to understand the context of the quote

i read it with a pound of salt in my lap. the writer is garbage. but that quote threw me for a loop and i want to understand it, and if anyone agrees with it and why, so i can learn.
