a friend sent me that link the other day, and i had that depressing 2014 internet reaction "already saw it", by which i just mean that i see his gifs pop up on tumblr pretty often.

his stuff reminds me of dvdp's gifs (which are also great if somehow you've never ran across them)

i'm trying to make a bunch of gifs for Introspections.me so things are relatively cosmic lately

the 15 second delay is so underutilized in GIFs

there could also be the more depressing general celebrity version, where it's nothing but clips of celebrities saying things that they think are really interesting because they're celebrities but they're really banal in reality

What kind of map is that anyway?

it's a 1:250,000 scale map from the dept. of the interior, 1992! here's a giganto version: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/topo/250k/txu-pclmaps-united_states-index.jpg

it divides the US up into a series of topographical areas. in the big version i linked to you can see dates for each segment - that's the last year that the topographical map was updated for that segment. the idea was that you could contact them to order large versions of any of the segments.

i made a GIF for the prism pipe show at pehrspace in L.A. last night. some ambient musicians played while several "hypnoGIFs" were projected onto a big screen behind them. usually i have to cut down on frames, dimensions, and image quality to meet the requirements of my overlords at tumblr, so this was a cool opportunity to make a giganto animation and save it as a .mp4 so that it could keep all of the nice colors (GIFs are limited to 256 colors, of course). here's a short clip of what it looked like, with one of the members of the band (L'éternèbre) playing in front:
