http://pitchfork.com/news/54930-pitchfork-launches-nightcap-series/
This June, Pitchfork is launching Nightcap, a series of late night shows across the United States.
It starts at 10 PM. Get it? It's a show, but it starts kinda late!! Isn't that really interesting??
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:11 (nine years ago) link
don't they know about noise ordinances!
― the glimmer man (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:13 (nine years ago) link
that's not even that late for a show
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:18 (nine years ago) link
oohhh things are gonna get a little blue at that hour i bet
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:26 (nine years ago) link
More like night crap.
― ▴▲ ▴TH3CR()$BY$H()W▴▲ ▴ (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link
I am seriously confused by this entire thing since a) as CAD said that is really not that late for a show b) what is the appeal of having a show start kind of late?
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:49 (nine years ago) link
"starts at 10pm" means the headliner goes on at 1 am in my experience so that's pretty lateappeal to the venue would be they can rent out the space and make moneyjim beam gets a ton of exposureall the shows are in major cities where 1 am start is not ridicseems pretty straightforward
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:52 (nine years ago) link
does everyone that goes to these shows get commemorative caps?
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:53 (nine years ago) link
everyone gets commemorative mustaches
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:54 (nine years ago) link
So they'll film some shows? I don't see any reason to mock this. Yeah so it's not very late, what idiots gawd!
Though honestly they didn't really explain this very well. Is there a concept/gimmick to it beyond recording live performances?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:54 (nine years ago) link
Pitchfork presents: Youtube.
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:55 (nine years ago) link
Oh wait they're throwing shows. So they're just booking bands?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:56 (nine years ago) link
we can mock it for its "water is wet" marketing approach
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:57 (nine years ago) link
it's almost like Jim Beam came to them and said "we have X amount of dollars what could we do" and then they came up with this idea and now people in New York can see a Majical Cloudz show
― whatchutola khomeini (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:00 (nine years ago) link
Assuming it's not JUST them booking bands for random venues, I don't even know what it is at all before I can mock it.
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:01 (nine years ago) link
its an advertising partnership. they're just booking shows, but jim beam pays for it
― whatchutola khomeini (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:02 (nine years ago) link
it sounds like it's just them booking bands at random venues
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:03 (nine years ago) link
and it's called "nightcap" because it's sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:04 (nine years ago) link
it's not very interesting or imaginative but it could be worse -- there could be dumb fake mustaches or they could have spelled it "nightc@p" or started an aggressive hashtag branding campaign
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:08 (nine years ago) link
why are we discussing this
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:10 (nine years ago) link
i'm not trying to be snide, i'm just curiousis the presumption that the pitchfork name means it deserves scrutiny/ridicule?

I was gonna come on here earlier to make fun of their constant mining of every little thing that happens between Drake vs. Jay-Z for front page news but forgot to.

ISn't this just what Red Bull have been doing for a while now? Only with booze and a Pitchfork imprimatur?

people gotta know if arcade fire suddenly covers king crimson or Louis Jordan

Yeah i'm tired of the "Arcade Fire Covers ______" too. Basically i would just eliminate their entire news section.

besides drake and arcade fire is st. vincent the most ubiquitous person on the site? feels like it to me.

sometimes i think drake couldn't be more drake than he already is, but then he does something like lint rolls his pants courtside at a basketball game! can you even appreciate that? that a human being could actually think to bring a lint roller to a sports event? and then use it courtside?
he's the G.O.A.T. at being drake
