Unless Weide is understating his current relationship with WA, tho, he seems fairly open about that stake he has.
also croup, he seems to directly disprove things stated as fact in this thread, e.g. none of Mia's other kids have spoken against her.
they implictly require you to believe that Mia Farrow somehow brainwashed a child into believing that Woody Allen molested her, and was so successful at this that she still believes as much as an adult. This is a non-impossible but highly far-fetched scenario.
With the testimony of the Farrow domestic employee implying that she saw and heard things that suggest that possibility.
I don't know, Weide doesn't know, you don't know.

If anyone is creeped out by the notion of a 55-year old man becoming involved with his girlfriend’s 19-year old adopted daughter, I understand. That makes perfect sense.
it does! that's a pretty fucked-up power dynamic.

"disprove" is a strong word for what the unsourced references to moses farrow in the piece does.
― da croupier, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 19:20 (ten years ago) link
also, as i'm not part of the jury in the non-existence case against allen, I don't need to "know" anything, aside from the fact that his children have accused him of abuse, both sexual and - in ronan's case - violent. All the Farrows have asked us to do is let that inform how we treat Allen has a public figure, and I think that's fair.
― da croupier, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 19:23 (ten years ago) link
it's not like allen's just been thrown in jail without a trial or had blood thrown on him in public - this is an article saying "Not So Fast!" to people debating whether we should have had a big Hooray For Cinema's Greatest Feminist Woody Allen celebration on network TV.

there shouldn't be any televised awards shows.

it does kinda :/ me that these allegations and their associated evidence went unchanged for twenty years during which woody allen was nominated for a million awards and won several and now we're all suddenly having an important discussion about the appropriateness of honoring him because the victim's brother tweeted a bunch about it during the lead-up to his debut as a cable television personality; if every word the farrows say is true this still speaks badly for Us

altho maybe it's just that nobody had thought about woody allen in decades until late-period masterpiece midnight in paris catapulted him back into the public eye

(i read the vanity fair article but i feel like ronan's funny tweets are a bigger cultural force)

Actually, I think it's not exactly like that -- I think it was that dylan herself had never spoken publicly about it, or at least not as an adult, and then came forward late last year and spoke to Vanity Fair about it herself. So they were kind of lying dormant for much of that twenty year period and then very recently she reawakened them.

why did you expect something to change over that period? idgi

I dunno if you were around in the 90s but this stuff was definitely all aired the first time around and there was a LOT of coverage of it

no yeah that's fair, and i'd never say there's an inappropriate time to talk abt this or that malone isn't right to speak about it, it's just my toxic information-age cynicism makes it impossible to stop feeling that responding to the highlighting by her much more public family members makes me complicit in somebody's promo cycle xxp
― i want to say one word to you, just one word:buzzfeed (difficult listening hour), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 21:06 (ten years ago) link
I do kind of wonder whether the timing of Dylan coming forward was with knowledge of the lifetime achievement award forthcoming. At the same time, that doesn't necessarily make it less credible.
As for the "promo cycle" -- I think "my sister was molested" is kind of an awkward way to build buzz for your show.

I'm not sure how much advance publicity GG lifetime achievement awards get, esp if they're going to someone who never goes to award shows

Especially when "becoming involved" = took pornographic photos of said woman that 'Woody would later say publicly... had been taken because Soon-Yi was interested in modeling.'

Sofia Vergara and Sharon Stone want to experience a threesome but don't know how to get it together so they call Woody Allen and he brings them John Turturro.
I'm not shocked this was written and directed by John Turturro.
