the SubRosa album is just not grabbing me.. I've tried several times to give it a go and its just not doing anything for me. I saw em live and though thought they were great, but on record its ____ ? i don't know.

I'm a bit puzzled by all the praise too, it's not a bad record in any way and it's pleasant to listen to but there's nothing on it that really stands out.

The lyrics stand out. "Affliction" is the strongest anger I've heard all year.

I told you, dude – people are lazy and wait until the last minute. It's human nature.

usually i start album countdown as soon as i get the results after (vote) closing time. But with this year us trying a tracks poll I dunno whether to do that first or just start albums tonight and start tracks on monday when everyones back to work (it wont be a particularly long rollout.

Also I was going to do it on just the one results thread but seanwayne thinks it would be better on its own thread.

Another thought was leave tracks poll to the last few days of albums rollout and count it down simultaneously with the albums.

so anyone got any thoughts on it?

j3ff might be right. Maybe polls should just have one week of voting in future. People could cram listening in during extended nominations instead.

I guess it depends on how many tracks ballots come in and how long that rollout would be, but it seems like a minor feature of the metal poll and could probably kick off the thread that would house both polls' results.

It may be tomorrow before I can get you the results btw.

tracks poll was always just a wee bit of fun. Hoped that it might attract non-partisans who might be more willing to check out standout tracks, that might then lead to albums being checked out.

Hopefully those who will follow tracks poll will be able to real time comments on the songs and will then hang around for albums.

plus I love it when in previous polls emil.y and others live-blogged thoughts on songs they didnt know.

Plus it can prove to doubters than metal has songs that do stand out. (also got no idea what the top 25 will be like.)

Anyway late voters can make a huge difference not only voting albums into the countdown, or into the top 10 or changing the order of the top 20buy ALSO decide #1. One year j3ffs last min vote changed the top 3.
