I think part of what pisses me off about this guys is that they're paid to draw one to four panels a day, and they use fucking photoshop to copy/paste.
For all of Trudeau's(or even Breathed's) repetition of panels of either one or two characters in dialogue or an exterior shot of the White House, he actually drew each panel.

Also, if you completely believe that trickle-down economics works, that dropping tax rates to the very, very rich will result in a massive increase in domestic production and consumption despite the evidence of, y'know, the last 30 years, then you will portray a budget that drops the tax rates for 95% of the country as a shark being tossed to a drowning man.

Don't these conservatives realize that since Bush gave us the worst deficit in the US history for absolutely no discernible reason, that it automatically delegitimizes anything they want to say about Obama's deficit spending ? Because at least that guy's spending our money in an attempt to fix our economy, not to wage pointless boondoggle wars that have singlehandedly shamed this nation like nothing else has.

Coupla different things with this: one, these guys get a talking point and all run with it, has nothing to do with whether it's true or valid or even relevant or not. These guys have been infantilized to the point of being children, and act as such. Things have been to the point of tribal cheerleading for decades now, so it doesn't matter when your own guy does something completely against what he supposedly stands for, you're a good little rightwing authoritarian follower and cheer him on while attacking any who dares question him. Once the other guy gets into power, you suddenly "rediscover" this standard and just unleash on the guy from the other team.
Part of it is just a complete lack of understanding(deliberate or not) about how these things actually work; you dump $500 billion into Lockheed-Martin to build a weapons systems to designed to defeat the Soviet Army or Wehrmacht or whatever, that's fine.
You spend $200,000 on funding tattoo removal services so that former gangbangers can get straight jobs again or a small local job-retraining center, that's the worst example of socialism/marxism/communism/pork barrel project ever seen. Any sort of public program that doesn't bolster or reinforce current authority figures(i.e. cops or the army), is horrible and should be destroyed.
And part of the problem is that these aren't positions that one can rationally argue about; if you don't come to whatever bizarro notion by way of reason, ain't no amount of reason going to get you out of it.

That last Asay cartoon is prime. Not only just insanely reductive and uninformed, but visually speaking also framed deliberately in a way that allows for maximum busy-ness and distraction. I think the dude is just an OCD sufferer who needs to draw a bunch of unnecessary crap in every frame, or otherwise he'll end up ranting on a street corner with tin foil on his head.
