haha this is amazing

I'm sitting in a local bar and there is a dude sitting a few sears down with an iPad propped up, with keyboard, writing a yelp review ~at the bar~ as he eats. I hadn't seen it before, but apparently when using the yelp app ON IPAD and entering a review, it displays in very large graphics the number of stars you're giving. which means this guy is very conspicuously showing his starred review to any staff that walks by.

he is doing this on purpose, he wants free drinks

"Update: I find the club's policy of responding to Yelp reviews to be weird in the extreme, and probably counterproductive. Particularly the practice of saying anything that sounds like the reviewer is mistaken or has misunderstood the WAC's wonderful intentions. Corporate social media monitoring is creepy. I will not be staying there again. Yours in Yelptasticness."

so annoying how companies respond to people's comments about them on public sites devoted to their company, using yelp's built in help functionality to do so.

He deleted his comment after the company rep replied to it and replaced it with the above. The last sentence is making fun of the signature the rep used ("yours in hospitality"). I didn't bother to check but i assume his other review is for the tinfoil millinery.

HORRIBLE! I don't know were they find the retards or how little they pay them I've seen some dumb employees but the ones at uno are by far the most un professional I have ever seen when we got there we had reservations but that didn't even matter because it was first come first serve they then sat us down and left us just sitting there for like 25 minutes with just a menu they didn't even ask us what kind of drink or anything so we got up to leave turned the menus in and the bitch at front just goes table for two without even asking any thing the place is very poorly managed wouldn't ever go back. HORRIBLE! Would give a zero but yelp wont allow me to don't go to uno in baltimore p.f. chang is way better they have way better service and better food.

Claudette, the doyenne of Fleet Street, works hard to bring in local foods and items I've literally never seen anywhere else. The other night I bought duck sausage at Fleet Street. Yeah it was $8, but it was also amazing. Good food costs money, unless your favorite thing is factory farms and the slow death of America's rich pastoral heritage.

93.46 for a breakfast for 3???? Really??? 3.50 for tazo tea??? It's not even that much at Starbucks... Asking that we wait outside in the cold for a table??? Better yet, rudely being asked to stand outside and wait for a table, even worse... Upsetting birthday breakfast for my best friend...not worth the $93... Feedback points for owner/management: invest in a waiting area by expanding the upstairs to accommodate the increase in business during peak hours, train staff on how to ask customers to politely wait outside for seating, address pricing according to cost of goods/market research (I.E. scarce amount of crab on a md lump crab Benedict, tazo tea with cost of goods shouldn't be priced at 3.50...its tazo people...your clientele knows the pricing of that item), customers should be made aware of added gratuity past a certain hour, menu is engaging but the selection is to be desired (meat maybe), your whole culture needs a change for your employees (refer to oz principles).
Sincerely,
An unhappy diner/customer/food epicure/and management troubleshooter

This place is horrible. I've given it several chances because the food IS good, but they are a mess. They accidentally put unions on my sub, they called and ask me if I wanted to keep it or have another sub made. I told them another one please because I am allergic to them. When my sub was delivered, my sub was cut in places where they took the onions out. Some were still left in there. There was another time they forgot my fries, another time I paid for a whole sub to be delivered to me and they gave me a half, and when the delivery man delivers he has other people smoking in the car and he comes to my door on the phone. The place itself is open, but dirty. The man working the phones will make the food with no gloves. That is just disgusting. A phone has more germs than a toilet seat; therefore, it is SO unacceptable. I wouldn't even give this place one star. They are horrible and have now lost my service and a couple of other people who have ordered from them around here.

i don't understand how the transfer of germs is any less likely if the guy *is* wearing gloves.

i think he is supposed to not use gloves while answering the phone, then put gloves on to handle food. but yelpers deserve germs in their food.

My only complaint is that I specifically requested for the delivery person not to use the buzzer, but to call the supplied phone number. My buzzer is old and incredibly loud. I asked for it not to be used for a reason.

Since moving to the Greater Seattle Area ages ago, all I've heard about Ezell's is awesomeness. I was never able to try it, due to my gluten allergy, but I've been around plenty of people who do eat it and have never heard a bad word uttered about the delectable chicken.

I can tell you, it smells amazing.

I can also tell you that the folks working at Ezell's are fantastic. They are helpful when I have to make big orders for work, which makes me look like a rock star at the office. They are the real rock stars!

Confession of a regular customer:

"Number 14, please."
"Shrimp and Chicken?"
"Yes."
"For here or to go?"
"For here."
I pay and sit down on the brown stool and place my purse on the marble counter. The man behind the counter un-pauses the movie on his laptop. I tilt my head and watch the movie from the side while I wait for my food. The characters are speaking in Vietnamese. I pretend I know what they're saying. My food is ready in 5 minutes. I shuck the wooden splinters off my chopsticks. The rolls come with warm peanut sauce. Finished in 15 minutes. I grab my purse, hop off the wooden stool and tell the man "Thank you...see you later." He smiles and says "Thank you."

Unlike most Asian food, that is most of the time lacking in flavor, this is full of flavor

They offer Thai and other Asian food. Each bite as tasty as the next.

I love this so much, like -- you're eating bites of the same thing, were you worried there were going to be massive fluctuations of tastiness?

two weeks pass...

there is a vietnamese restaurant i go to probably once every other month or so. it's owned by a family from vietnam and they go to vietnam for several weeks in the winter every year. this year i was there and the guy told me they were going in feb and march since i am a trusted regular but i forgot when they get back so i checked yelp knowing some yelper would have complained about it. lo and behold a one star review saying it's closed until march 25 and they didn't even update their website! GOSH! i know it's not a great business practice to close for two months out of the year but like ugh yelpers. this place is tiny and cash only it's not like closing a domino's you ass.

sent from my butt (harbl), Friday, 7 March 2014 00:05 (ten years ago) link

i need to c/p some of these reviews

Cash only, small(er) portions, small interior.

Came here with a few friends for dinner. Not in the greatest area of Baltimore, especially as it gets dark, so just be wary.

I got the pho (P2) and I thought it was just okay. For the price ($8) I thought the portion size was small. Also, I don't like pho places with square bowls...I feel like it takes away some of the authenticity. The broth was a bit too salty and there really wasn't much that was remarkable about my noodles.

My friend got spring rolls and they were just okay too. They were small but you do get four per serving.

The staff came across as a little bit pushy. I get that since it's a small place, having a high turnover of customers for lunch/dinner rush is important, but I just never really felt comfortable during my dining experience. Since it's one of the few rare Vietnamese places in Baltimore, it's likely I'll be back at some point. But given the price and quality, it will be begrudgingly.

i'm sorry you have to begrudgingly go out to eat now ;_;
