I think its too late for that now, as people have voted for it. Apparently, Toots and the Maytals is 1969 too..but again, I found this out after people had starting casting their votes - there will just have to be 1969 songs in the poll.

I've been steadfastly ignoring this poll up to now. But I have now read this thread and am surprised how many of my personal faves got nominated. Like with all the other recent polls, though, I kinda wish we could just stop here and not bother with the vote.

a really weird thing about this just happened. i was going through, and making a "first cut" - songs and albums i have never heard or definitely dont want to vote for. after narrowing wantonly, i ended up with exactly 120 albums and 120 songs from which to choose 70 total. weird, huh??

There are a lot of albums on this list that I have never heard. I wasn't buying albums for myself in the 70s and mostly have never gotten around to backtracking and buying old 70s rock/soul/funk/popingeneral albums. (And now I'm more interested in buying 70s salsa, so I may never buy Black Sabbath or Isaac Hayes albums, even though I'm pretty sure I'd like them.)

There still isn't really a clear leader in the tracks poll. The albums are more widely spread but again, YOUR vote could make all the difference.

In retrospect, I wish I'd put at least one of the Big Star albums in my final ballot, but the three of them cancelled each other out. I couldn't bring myself to pick between them, but any one of them would have been in my top 10. Major fuckup.

i think it took me a lot longer than it should have, like, three hours. it was fun, though, and I went back and listened to a lot of albums I hadn't in a while... i realized today that i left out Blood on the Tracks and that Maggot Brain should have been about, ohhhhhh, TWENTY spots higher than I placed it. I'll get mine in later today. The ordering of my top four tracks is a near toss-up right now and I'll need to sleep on it.

Also, how many tracks/albums are people sending in? I'm sending in 45/30. My tracks shortlist was a lot bigger than my albums shortlist. I know the mathematics of the situation but when it came right down to it I cared more deeply about the items on my tracks list than those on my albums list.
