88 Boadrum at LA County Museum of Art, August 8, 08 (apparently)

Ah, I'm a bit pissed that I missed this...but then I was one of the lucky few who actually made it into the one last year. I wonder if they'll do a 9/9/09 one? That'll fall on a Wednesday or something though.

Shit, they should just do a variation of this EVERY summer. But maybe that would get stale after a while. I dunno.

I just realized that the pics of the stage setup remind me of Close Encounters--they should do next year at Devil's Tower.

BoaDrum was very original. I had never heard the Boredoms but the music was much prettier than I expected and I got a sense of sonic waves.

It is still above me but I can imagine why people get so into it.

i went to this and it was really poorly organized. the space was way too small for the number of ticketholders, thus packed crowds inside and long lines outside and not very much room to dance after 1am or so. the line was so long for the bar that it took over most of the dance floor. lincoln heights is a great area to hold a party like this, but next time they should take over a disused warehouse instead of a tiny studio.

xpost, true about the size of the space, but i liked the small sweaty atmosphere. there are better venues, but the sets kept me there til the party was over

That 77 Boadrum show was so intense live, it's hard to explain! The first time they all did the improve freakout I had to try really hard to hold it together just watching from the side.

several of my friends played the 88 L.A. one ... they had section leaders and there was definitely a, uh, diverse range of aptitudes represented. My friend whose husband played got to meet Kevin Haskins from Bauhaus so that was cool.

It was cool. Still have the shirt!
