yeah far as i can tell this record is awesome

yeah if on the one hand we've heard half these songs already, on the other the sequencing and album context has really opened up some of the ones that didn't stand out as standalone singles, like "call her" and "animals"

I will slightly disagree with you there because I thought "Call Her" was exceptional from the get-go.

i did like it, but i didn't have that compulsive must-hear-this-50-times-in-a-row urge that i got with "days" and "you" - it is an excellent track though

i'm sort of impressed given that i assume there were issues getting the album out (no longer with original uk pr company, delays, little real promo)

(I do agree that "Animals" makes more sense on the album than as a standalone)

Amazon has it as MP3 only so my assumption is that there's no physical copy.

no idea if that means i am limited to the number of plays ..
however, f*ck all that boring crap, this album is hitting many of my sweet spots.

not really, that happens pretty much 'automatically' if you're going through a digital distributor, who pushes it out to a million digital music outlets (from iTunes to weird Russian streaming sites).

i wasn't familiar with Xbox Music but i just checked and my records are there, so.

I just finally bought the damn thing on iTunes. It's a really well-sequenced record, isn't it? To me it feels like it gains tremendously from being laid out as a full-length rather than a set of one-off singles

I think this improves as it goes along but really takes off with 'Days'. They're generally dependent on the quality of the songwriter/vocalist they're working with. The whole thing *sounds* amazing but they work so much better with vocalists who provide a bit of contrast to the gothiness - Nina Sky, Romy, whoever Dark Sister are, even Sia. The Lou Rhodes track feels thuddingly predictable by comparison.

'Vertigo' is my cut from this.

This album is so, so, so, so, so good.

I can't say AOTY because I'm torn between this and Maya Jane Coles and Austra, but my goodness, this is so, soooo good.

(And it pains me not to AOTY an album that Alley Deheza is on, any year that Alley Deheza features on a record, but there it is.)

never got to hear this album properly.
i have never seen a cd copy of this ever.
however, it appears that they are available via the usual places (albeit very expensive : £30 on amazon !), so i guess it was released.
i guess there was not a lot of push behind it, or, the label pulled it from having a full release ?

Half was released as singles over 4 years, so the album itself was anticlimactic. An issue with a lot of debut albums this decade.

it is, as has been said, bloody fantastic.
would love to know how this album got so lost.
did the girls just call it quits and pull back from the needs of the promotional chaos, or was it that the label just lost interest ??
there has to be a story for such a wonderful album that features so many big names on it to disappear like this.
