stupid, perhaps. or maybe it's one of the most salacious, salty pop songs ever, depending on how you choose to hear it.

"This is probably the dumbest song ever made, and it wouldn't have been quite so bad if it weren't meant to be taken seriously."????
Plenty of songwriters would give their left ball to be able to write songs as cool as MacArthur Park. Plus, that particular line is an undeniable classic.

i realize it's probably futile to refute a statement made three years ago, but for the historical record it needs to be pointed out that harrison produced "the life of brian" and appeared in "the rutles," which is another way of saying, what the hell you talking about?

I'd have to nominate "Cum On Feel The Noize," or any other number of Slade songs from the era. So dumbed-down it's brilliant.
But then I remembered hearing "Good Morning Starshine" on the oldies station last night, and that's much much stupider, even by early '70s standards... La la la la la la la.....
Good morning starshine the earth says helloYou twinkle above us we twinkle belowGood morning starshine you lead us alongMy love and me as we singOur early morning singing song
Gliddy glub gloopy nibby nabby noopyLa la la lo loSabba sibby sabba nooby abba nabbaLe le lo loTooby ooby walla nooby abba nabaEarly morning singing song
Good morning starshine his love in your sightReflecting your sunlight in my lover eyesGood morning starshine so happy we'd beMy love and me as we singOur early morning singing song
Can't you hear me
Singing a song loving a songSinging a songLoving a song laughing a songSinging a songSing a song song singingSong song song singSing sing sing sing songSong song song singSing sing sing sing songSing sing sing sining song......
