Also, "Yummy yummy yummy, I've got love in my tummy". (Appearing in the Monty Python sketch about how not to be seen just added to the silliness, I guess ;) )

yummy yummy yummy, I've got love in my tummy

stupid, perhaps. or maybe it's one of the most salacious, salty pop songs ever, depending on how you choose to hear it.

I can't believe we've lowered ourselves to denigrating Jimmy Webb.

OTM Ally.

"This is probably the dumbest song ever made, and it wouldn't have been quite so bad if it weren't meant to be taken seriously."????

Plenty of songwriters would give their left ball to be able to write songs as cool as MacArthur Park. Plus, that particular line is an undeniable classic.

Why "Bloody Well Right"? It's not really deep or anything but it's surely no more stupid than most songs about the class system are. "Sexx Laws" is brilliantly catchy and the bass on "The Lemon Song" is so classic that Plant could have sung anything on it without making the song stupid.

I'm saddened that someone upthread suggested Turning Japanese, one of the best pop songs ever.

Harrison's total career = absolutely no trace of a sense of humour, at any level.

i realize it's probably futile to refute a statement made three years ago, but for the historical record it needs to be pointed out that harrison produced "the life of brian" and appeared in "the rutles," which is another way of saying, what the hell you talking about?

"Summer Girls" and "Thong Song" are both good ones. Though the former is fun dumb and the latter is annoying as hell dumb.

"Bloody Well Right" is great!

I'd have to nominate "Cum On Feel The Noize," or any other number of Slade songs from the era. So dumbed-down it's brilliant.

But then I remembered hearing "Good Morning Starshine" on the oldies station last night, and that's much much stupider, even by early '70s standards...

La la la la la la la.....

Good morning starshine the earth says hello
You twinkle above us we twinkle below
Good morning starshine you lead us along
My love and me as we sing
Our early morning singing song

Gliddy glub gloopy nibby nabby noopy
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba nooby abba nabba
Le le lo lo
Tooby ooby walla nooby abba naba
Early morning singing song

Good morning starshine his love in your sight
Reflecting your sunlight in my lover eyes
Good morning starshine so happy we'd be
My love and me as we sing
Our early morning singing song

Gliddy glub gloopy nibby nabby noopy
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba nooby abba nabba
Le le lo lo
Tooby ooby walla nooby abba naba
Early morning singing song

Can't you hear me

Singing a song loving a song
Singing a song
Loving a song laughing a song
Singing a song
Sing a song song singing
Song song song sing
Sing sing sing sing song
Song song song sing
Sing sing sing sing song
Sing sing sing sining song......
