Jason Boso was ahead of the pack in 2006 when he and fellow culinary-school grads Quincy Hart and Steve Thompson co-founded Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas, one of the early high-quality, chef-driven burger bars. Last weekend Boso opened his latest concept, Truck Yard, in a 15,000-square-foot lot in Dallas’s Lower Greenville neighborhood. The place is like a sprawling backyard with picnic tables, fire puts and a converted mechanic’s shed turned bar and Steak Me Home Tonight, where they’re cooking sliced rib-eye cheesesteak sandwiches. BurgerBusiness.com pulled Boso away from the cheesesteak grill for a few minutes to give the lowdown on Truck Yard and its meaning for Twisted Root.

So they're marathon airing this on VH1 today (of all places). I'm so envious for my friend who's seeing it for the first time.

Yeah, it started last night, watched about 5 episodes, none of which I'd seen before. Apparently, I missed the whole first season or something. But damn, shit was hilarious right out of the gate.

yeah i was home last night and realized the marathon was on around 11pm, and other than tuning to one of the major networks for the NYE countdown i just had Happy Endings on for like 3 hours straight last night

Alex definitely took a while to become hilarious but otherwise the show was funny right out of the gate

he's not as funny on mindy as he was on happy endings but he's still funny + it's a good show so yes u should watch

yeah, definitely one of the most improved new shows of the last couple seasons, don't let early ilx posts before it found its footing scare you off

I still need to watch the first season of HE in full; I didn't really get into the show until season 2

I still marvel at how it morphed from being a show about relatively normal Dave and Alex and their zany friends into Dave and Alex arguably being the craziest people in the group

Mindy Project's funny in that it can't decide whether its a wacky ensemble comedy about a ob-gyn clinic (pally's great but OMG who thought they needed another goofball?) or a show about the romantic life of the titular character from her pov. It rarely succeeds in seamlessly melding the two directions, but I find both worlds so enjoyable that the friction doesn't keep me from watching or anything.

xp i agree with the first part of your assessment, but it's kind of left me indifferent more often than not. it's got some good jokes, i'll give it, but i still feels like it's "finding its footing" as a show

that's the thing - as they never stop bringing in boyfriends or wacky new employees, i don't think it ever will! But I love the goofballs (even if they're scrambling to fit them all in an episode) and find Mindy & Michael to be really rich, novel leads for the romantic angle. If one of the parts didn't work for me (which seems to be the case for a lot of people), the chafing prob would keep me from watching.

i can't remember if he's in the credits (new girl barely has credits right?) but he's in the promo stuff w/ the other cast members. i think he's a recurring guest star or whatever heather locklear was on melrose place and whether he's on the show next year depends on whether his pilot gets picked up. i hope he stays tbh, he works well on the show and there's something quietly radical about having more than one 'black guy' in the gang.
