I used to have a pair of Khombu boots. They made the first "shoe boots" that were all the rage on the playground in 6th grade.

The fake comments on those are really kind of funny. Why would you buy an insulated boot to go hiking in Costa Rica?

costa rica is home to the highest peak in central america at over 12,000 feet.

i used to work with a bunch of people who have been at various times, everyone loved it.

I knew (and portrayed onstage) a guy who was down there for all the wrong reasons.

i stand corrected, wikipedia tells me costa rica is home to central america's FIFTH highest peak. i wonder if that travel guide that told me it was the highest defined "central america" differently? or were they just outright lying to me?

and hey, where chicago's favorite costa rican restaurant gets it's name: The highest volcano in the country is the Irazú Volcano (3,431 m / 11,257 ft).

I used to have a bookmark for a site selling Army/Navy surplus pairs of the standard paratrooper winter boots in WHITE. I think I've lost it now, though.

what is up with the 10th ward, is it basically just indiana?

i'm in that narrow strip of the 32nd ward so i don't have the same alderman as any of my friends in the neighborhood. i remember last spring when i was at inner town they had a petition going around to try to stay open because a neighbor bought a condo next door and was trying to get them shut down. i couldn't sign despite living two blocks away.

i love how o'hare has representation. in case anyone is thinking about taking up residence at the wolfgang puck's in terminal b you will be voting in the 41st ward.

I bought an awesome pair of shoes at Giraudon on Milwaukee over the weekend. 70% off for their going out of business sale.

The map shows what's happening nationally: Clinton is winning support among Hispanics (Pilsen = 25th ward, Little Village = 22nd) and older and working-class whites (Bridgeport = 11th, Jefferson Park = 45th); Obama is winning support among blacks (pretty much all the gray on the map consists of majority-black neighborhoods) and young college-educated whites (Lincoln Park = 43rd, Wicker Park = 1st, etc.).

I bought yet another pair of shoes last night as well. I was trying on trousers, and realized that of all my damn shoes, I don't have a single presentable pair of brown ones.

(the brown oxfords were $30 on amazon, btw. And since the last pair of Kenneth Cole shoes I bought on Amazon in that size fit like a glove, I am hoping that these will, too.)

Oh no! I wd not ever want to be stuck at the office!!

I've tried and tried to work out the brown shoe problem but for me there are SO many shades and values of brown that one pair never goes with all my wardrobe items in the brown/russet/autumn family. I gave up and have replaced brown shoes with either metallic ones (like a distressed bronze color) or I just wear brown clothes with colored shoes in red, yellow, whatever.
