guitars on this are great

J0rdan S., Friday, 4 January 2008 23:34 (sixteen years ago) link

sadly, much as when live, this is boringly samey. you can interchange vocal lines between most of their songs.

Simon H., Friday, 4 January 2008 23:37 (sixteen years ago) link

when seen live

I was really hoping they'd have some new tricks up their sleeve for the lp. sadly not.

Simon H., Friday, 4 January 2008 23:44 (sixteen years ago) link

guys this album is so good

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2008 20:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Anyway, so yeah, 2008 album of the year.

^would agree w/ this if not for hot chip

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2008 20:40 (sixteen years ago) link

This album is great. I just can't wait to hear the mastered version.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Wednesday, 9 January 2008 20:59 (sixteen years ago) link

so you think is an early leak?

the only two weak songs on here are 'knee deep at atp' and 'this is how you spell hahaha'. everything else is great. love how it's sequenced, too.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2008 21:02 (sixteen years ago) link

worst album cover of 2008 for sure

Zeno, Thursday, 17 January 2008 09:46 (sixteen years ago) link

"I cherish, in fondness, the day before I met you" is such a great line.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 17 January 2008 14:48 (sixteen years ago) link

My favourite on the album is "If you catch me with my hands in the till, I promise SUGAH I wasn't trying to steal"

makes me want to kill

braveclub, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:36 (sixteen years ago) link

The correct line is 'god help us if there's a war' but 'makes me want to kill' will do.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Still pretending to like Busted, eh?

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Would have been shit in 1998 as well.

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:23 (sixteen years ago) link

liveblog: im listening to 'We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives' on youtube.

the male vocalist in the verses... ah, are all their songs like this?

except for him, it isn't noticeably worse than other indie records that i have heard.

oh shit though the male vocalist just came back in. gotdamn, dom.

banriquit, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:24 (sixteen years ago) link

They went 'on hiatus' so N@t could get rid of the people she didn't like. Now they are back.

Raw Patrick, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:25 (sixteen years ago) link

ok, 'You! Me! Dancing!'

intro much? but at least no vocals yet. i can imagine this going down well in an indie nightclub -- not a recommendation. this is like that curtis thread about bands who use loads of instruments at once -- that tinkly thing yo.

ok fuck this the vocalist is just.... dnw dnw dnw

Would this be the same "people" who in an interview I did with them declared a dislike of... I've said too much.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:30 (sixteen years ago) link

Also you are all missing the most important factor which is that THE DUDE SINGER LOOKS LIKE GRAHAM.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:31 (sixteen years ago) link

A 9/10? With the reviewer fighting the impulse to give it 10/10?

What am I missing with this band?

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 18 April 2008 17:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I mean, it's only one review, obv., but the disc is getting pretty good reviews overall, and I just don't get it.

He only said "white" three times. Disappointing.

Matt DC, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:39 (fifteen years ago) link

I had a really good zing I was gonna write here, but I'd get a pissy facebook message if I did.

I've not heard a single note by them. I think I like them because Swells doesn't, though. Although I do kind of agree with his statement of Doran's idea - basically "it's 2008 and the world's ending, why are you dressing as a 7-year-old", only I think it ought to be "It's 2008 and the world's ending, we might as well dress as 7-year-olds".

Do it, Dom.

Scik Mouthy, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:42 (fifteen years ago) link

I wonder if Swells/Doran is getting one after Swells slagged off a DiS sponsored tour?

Surprisingly, the second album sounds a lot like the first.

James Mitchell, Friday, 12 September 2008 18:51 (fifteen years ago) link

holy shit

my only suggestion is they should always play “the low”

princess of hell (BradNelson), Sunday, 14 October 2018 14:14 (five years ago) link

the low and in medias res would have been welcome but honestly the best show i've ever been to.

also great was the scalper outside kentish town tube station trying to sell tickets to the peasants

devvvine, Sunday, 14 October 2018 19:22 (five years ago) link

I was impressed the show was a big enough deal to have bootleg t-shirts on sale outside.

We were discussing it after and despite playing for about 2.5 hrs there were still at least half a dozen big tunes left out.
