Didn't work then. I wonder if friend requests have an expiration date?

he also did "Memories Can't Wait" on Sessions (i think a dif episode? he hosted one season and performed multiple times iirc), which got me really hyped because i had just started getting into TH at the time and it was one of my favorite deep cuts

i really had no idea anybody thought "Drugs" was one of the best songs on this record

Most days I love this record forever, but on Tuesdays I think "I Zimbra" is jazz hands and much of the rest of the record boasts David's weakest singing and lyrics. "Drugs" tho is unspeakably good and is one of those songs that will always stop me in my tracks to listen, a perfect song

it's obviously the classic 4 album run - 77 through RIL, with More Songs being the best. Speaking in Tongues a slight drop in quality.

animals is fun to vamp along to

yeah songwriting-wise, FOM probably better deserves the title "more songs about buildings and food" given how many of the songs are just 'here is a noun that i will riff on blankly for the next 3 minutes.'

except they aren't blank riffs they're profound treatises that you can make paranoid clown faces to

it's a creative writing exercise more songwriters should follow. Write a song a day about: iPhone, house keys, laptop, hair gel.

in my case those four songs would be autobiographical

Killer Mike called a song "Reagan." 2 Chainz should write one called "Grover."

5 album run, with "The Name of this band..." being their peak imo

i don't really think that should really count as part of their run. it'd be one thing if the songs were drastically different than their album counterparts, but they're pretty faithful. i agree that it's an awesome album (one of my favs as well).

Z S, Wednesday, 12 June 2013 00:42 (ten years ago) link

they definitely have one of the best 2-album runs of live albums

some dude, Wednesday, 12 June 2013 01:20 (ten years ago) link

not unless you discount Neil Young and his quasi live albums.

i like the song "heaven" a lot, how it contrasts with the twitchy nervousness of the rest of this album. i also like how the album it sounds simple, almost stripped down, compared to their later masterpiece "remain in light" which is the only other talking heads album i've spent a lot of time with. i should listen to these guys more, but byrne irritates me after a while even though i am a great admirer of his schtick, which i think was very original

Treeship, Wednesday, 12 June 2013 01:33 (ten years ago) link

heaven is a song where nothing ever happens obv

some dude, Wednesday, 12 June 2013 01:34 (ten years ago) link

All those single-word song titles in one place - it's almost like the early '90s
