Boo. Would rather have this back than Harmon on Community.

Wasn't this show on Netflix streaming a few months ago? i bugged a friend to watch it...

Nhex, Monday, 3 June 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

I don't think it's been on Netflix instant.

This show is the apotheosis of the "it gets better, HONESTLY" shows. Where else can I go for non-sequitur jokes about Lexis-Nexis?

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 3 June 2013 18:51 (ten years ago) link

haha, true on both marks. people stay skeptical getting through that first season....

Nhex, Monday, 3 June 2013 19:13 (ten years ago) link

There's a super strong argument for watching season 2 first; the season 1 episodes read much, much better in retrospect

Sony couldn't find a taker, and the cast's contracts expire today.

Happy Endings, you were a good television show. R.I.P.

:(. One of my favorite comedies, damn it.

Coupe better land in another sweet gig, cuz she brought the lols. As did they all.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 29 June 2013 02:26 (ten years ago) link

yeah i feel like she has the most potential to have a nice career ahead of her. Wayans Jr. was so perfect for this show that it's almost like, you know he'll never have a better vehicle.

R.I.P. creepy Damon Wayans doll

Jason Boso was ahead of the pack in 2006 when he and fellow culinary-school grads Quincy Hart and Steve Thompson co-founded Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas, one of the early high-quality, chef-driven burger bars. Last weekend Boso opened his latest concept, Truck Yard, in a 15,000-square-foot lot in Dallas’s Lower Greenville neighborhood. The place is like a sprawling backyard with picnic tables, fire puts and a converted mechanic’s shed turned bar and Steak Me Home Tonight, where they’re cooking sliced rib-eye cheesesteak sandwiches. BurgerBusiness.com pulled Boso away from the cheesesteak grill for a few minutes to give the lowdown on Truck Yard and its meaning for Twisted Root.

I've seen muffin tops in bakeries and wondered whether they come about from the Seinfeld episode.

nickn, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 22:08 (ten years ago) link

Still got the last two episodes saved unwatched, to break out in emergency ice cream/TV/loneliness moment

Good news! S3 is available at Amazon.
Bad news! It's apparently a feature free, made on demand, dvd-r set. And it's $40.

two months pass...

So they're marathon airing this on VH1 today (of all places). I'm so envious for my friend who's seeing it for the first time.

Cereal. Killed it. No spoon. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 1 January 2014 18:23 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, it started last night, watched about 5 episodes, none of which I'd seen before. Apparently, I missed the whole first season or something. But damn, shit was hilarious right out of the gate.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 1 January 2014 18:38 (ten years ago) link

yeah i was home last night and realized the marathon was on around 11pm, and other than tuning to one of the major networks for the NYE countdown i just had Happy Endings on for like 3 hours straight last night

ol' Wrink P's thinkpiece (some dude), Wednesday, 1 January 2014 18:45 (ten years ago) link

Alex definitely took a while to become hilarious but otherwise the show was funny right out of the gate

to borrow your phrase lol

I miss this show so much :(

Murgatroid, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 18:55 (ten years ago) link

Showed my wife half of the second season and she wasn't impressed. Considering divorce tbh :(

if i dig pally on this show should i start watching the mindy project? ilx doesn't seem to be super stoked on the mindy project

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:12 (ten years ago) link

he's not as funny on mindy as he was on happy endings but he's still funny + it's a good show so yes u should watch

Mordy , Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:18 (ten years ago) link

Mindy Project is much, much funnier now than it originally was

SHAUN (DJP), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:24 (ten years ago) link

yeah, definitely one of the most improved new shows of the last couple seasons, don't let early ilx posts before it found its footing scare you off

some dude, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:25 (ten years ago) link

I still need to watch the first season of HE in full; I didn't really get into the show until season 2

I still marvel at how it morphed from being a show about relatively normal Dave and Alex and their zany friends into Dave and Alex arguably being the craziest people in the group

SHAUN (DJP), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:28 (ten years ago) link

Dave is clearly unstable.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:32 (ten years ago) link

xps - k, i'll have to give it a shot

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:35 (ten years ago) link

Mindy Project's funny in that it can't decide whether its a wacky ensemble comedy about a ob-gyn clinic (pally's great but OMG who thought they needed another goofball?) or a show about the romantic life of the titular character from her pov. It rarely succeeds in seamlessly melding the two directions, but I find both worlds so enjoyable that the friction doesn't keep me from watching or anything.

da croupier, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:43 (ten years ago) link

^^^ OTM

SHAUN (DJP), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:44 (ten years ago) link

xp i agree with the first part of your assessment, but it's kind of left me indifferent more often than not. it's got some good jokes, i'll give it, but i still feels like it's "finding its footing" as a show

Nhex, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:45 (ten years ago) link

that's the thing - as they never stop bringing in boyfriends or wacky new employees, i don't think it ever will! But I love the goofballs (even if they're scrambling to fit them all in an episode) and find Mindy & Michael to be really rich, novel leads for the romantic angle. If one of the parts didn't work for me (which seems to be the case for a lot of people), the chafing prob would keep me from watching.

da croupier, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 20:48 (ten years ago) link

mindy project exceptionally funny tnite

Mordy , Wednesday, 8 January 2014 03:11 (ten years ago) link

The creator of Happy Endings has a new show that's gonna be on NBC, so this won't last long: http://tvline.com/2014/01/08/marry-me-nbc-pilot-happy-endings-david-caspe/

Murgatroid, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 22:00 (ten years ago) link

too bad Wayans Jr is already on New Girl, otherwise they could just cast him and Coupe

SHAUN (DJP), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 22:03 (ten years ago) link

Oh, I knew Casey Wilson got engaged, but I didn't realize it was to the guy who created Happy Endings. Anyway, as inferred in the article, I hope she winds up on the show.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 22:04 (ten years ago) link

otherwise they could just cast him and Coupe

That would be perfect.
