xps lol @ scott kurtz being involved

then again i guess it makes sense as TenNapel outed himself as a conservative crank iirc

Nhex, Wednesday, 29 May 2013 00:27 (ten years ago) link

ah, well yes.

Yeah, TenNapel is one of those guys whose personal opinions are absolutely something you never ever want to get near. Games are great, but everything else.....bleah.

i had to share my pain; once you see that stuff you can't unsee it

Double Fine going back to the well (for an entirely different project)

0808ɹƃ (silby), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:54 (ten years ago) link

tbh I totally want the game that I imagine it will be, but considering the ship date is a year and a half from now and it'll reach its goal through the efforts of Other People I don't know that it's worth backing…especially since I've not been digging into the backer-exclusive Double Fine Adventure updates at all.

0808ɹƃ (silby), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:55 (ten years ago) link

man, this looks like the sort of thing i would drop three bills on and then have a hard time figuring out where to put after the first month.

my first reaction was "man, so shameless" but after watching the video and reading the page it's well done... may back this one. no doubt it will be huge by the time it's all said and done (2 days and it's already 55% of the $900k)

Nhex, Sunday, 1 September 2013 17:25 (ten years ago) link

One of the most well-done kickstarter proposals i've seen.

I do dig the Ico meets Swords & Sorcery aesthetic. it's already tripled its modest goal

not asking for enough money for the amount of staff they want to carry for the next year, too many physical rewards for a primarily digital product, not a particularly clear-headed risks/challenges section…smells risky to me.

Star Citizen, born on Kickstarter, passed $40 million in funding pledges today.

Congratulations! And my condolences. (Sanpaku), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 02:13 (ten years ago) link

I've never played Shaq-Fu, but it's always had a massive amount of hate directed to it. Seems like it was released too late (fighting games being kinda old post-MK2) and also ahead of its time, like it was already the kind of game that could get funded on Kickstarter.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 02:16 (ten years ago) link

Also it starred Shaq as a kung fu master

hey who would have guessed that giving half a million dollars to some Youtube "celebrities" to fund their own Minecraft ripoff would be a bad idea? certainly not the 5 people who backed at the $10,000 level!
