one of the funniest scenes was when franco & the girls are sitting at a parc bench just after he bails them out of jail & he's describing the twins "gangbangers... talkin bout double penetration" and then in the next shot it turns out they're sitting at the table with them licking their lips & nodding along

talked with a student about spring breakers upon our return from spring break. she had the following observations:

* it was funny and also disturbing (her words)
* james franco used to be hot, but is not anymore
* ashley benson is great
* vanessa hudgens was the best
* the reason selena gomez didn't get to go totally bananas (my words) is because of her Disney contract
* she had never heard of harmony korine and had no idea what i was talking about when i brought him up

not sure why i capitalized disney, totes doesn't deserve it

hudgens really was magnificently psycho

The way she used her sexuality to influence people/their behavior was really haunting/scary. It reminded me of this girl who used to say things like "boys like me because I'm small, they can pretend I'm young" and then just looked at me straight in the face and waited for me to react. The look in her eyes was the same and they shared that same cocky dangerous fearlessness. That was years ago and I still think about it from time to time. What a creepy yet insightful and also terrifying thing to say.

I thought I read that the only way to see Marfa Girl is to stream it from Larry Clark's website - you can't even download it to a device or something, and I don't really watch full-length stuff on my computer.

I had never heard Skrillex before this movie, though I'd heard endless jokes about him - but I thought the score in this was awesome. And what I assume is his big hit given an orchestral treatment at the end was fantastic... that melody is great! (Why are people so down on that dude (without opening a surely gnarly ILM thread)?

as mentioned, there are about 1.5 skrillex songs in the whole film, mostly that one you noticed, which is mostly represented as a repetition of the theme part. I think they only played the breakdown once, during that slow motion montage.

This could've been way better around maybe 75 minutes, ie a B picture? Cut the opening half-hour of exposition down to 15 mins, booze-soaked jiggling tits get boring fast.

I'd a trimmed it by 10 minutes or just kept the "Everytime" scene.

I went to St Petersburg for spring break during the Reagan Administration.

- Saw some spring training baseball with my 67-year-old uncle, who took me to the breakfast diner at 6 a.m.
- Went to Big Country / Wire Train concert
- Ran into famed mass murderer Henry Kissinger at the Salvador Dali Museum
- An older man (about 30) tried to pick me up on the beach, which I only fully realized afterward

St Petersburg has good restaurants – and that Dali museum is worth the trip, although I haven't had any Angie Dickinson experiences in it.

Thought it was a bit on the nose to have the one girl who has a moral/religious crisis be called "Faith".

Good film, though. Not quite as leery as I was expecting. All the non-linear editing stuff reminded me of Nic Roeg.
