people need to watch times square.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 18:04 (nineteen years ago) link

That is one weird cast.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 18:48 (nineteen years ago) link

TIM CURRY. JENNIFER GREY. ADAM ANT. DR. JOYCE BROTHERS.

Seriously, if I was a studio head that would be all you'd have to say to me, $300m right there.

"Paradise Garage" needs a revival. What a great single, what a crappy video.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 18:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Seriously, if I was a studio head that would be all you'd have to say to me, $300m right there.

Have them remake that Plunkett and Maclane film with Adam and Tim as the two lead characters. Gold, right there.

four weeks pass...
I HAVE SEEN IT, IT IS AMAZING. I MEAN IT IS TERRIBLE BUT OMG.

Here's the thing. As soon as he started singing the song, I knew what he was saying. I like, knew this song, pretty well, even. Like I've heard it a few times before and found it very memorable. But I have most definitely not seen this film, ever. I would definitely have remembered something that made as little sense as the musical sequence. I can only assume that either A) this was some kind of single B) someone has made a cover of Tim Curry's song about Halloween C) I am clairvoyant.

Also we put the song on MP3, by "we" I mean Tom.

Tim Curry's finest hour was in "Clue", without a doubt.

"Communism was just a red herring."

Thank you Tombot, you are my hero.

Dude do you want a gmail invite?

I'm resisting the cult. ;-) More seriously, that apparently IS my gmail equivalent, I have a 2GB inbox. I only found out about it last night!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:52 (nineteen years ago) link

(And thanks, of course -- won't be able to listen to it for another hour, I have to go up to the front desk from 8 to 9.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Dan, are you looking at the website while you listen? It's important to see the visuals.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:54 (nineteen years ago) link

"From London to Idaho," indeed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:37 (nineteen years ago) link

I seriously didn't expect the song to sound like it was shot full of downers.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:38 (nineteen years ago) link

That's what makes it Halloweeny.

I thought this was going to be about his recreation of the beloved Mr. French on the remake of Family Affair. Sebastian Cabot, move over!

k/l (Ken L), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 18:05 (eighteen years ago) link

my sister and i used to watch this movie

Everyone's got a material possession they're really proud of. For some, it's their new sportscar. Others, their prized hockey trophies. For the Grand Wizard, it's his cardboard sun. Curry obviously believe that this is shocking, since he hides the thing behind his back for a minute, taunting us as if we should be completely amazed that he's somehow found the elusive paper sun.

this part of the website made me roffle

I was looking for the lyrics to the elusive Halloween song but instead found this and well it speaks for itself.

[spoken] It's great to be here, with you young witches, on this fabulous night! Remember Gills, show the world, let them know it's Halloween. Hit it!
[singing]
I wouldn't change places
With anyone tonight
We'll carve pumpkin faces
And watch the witches flight
Every human heart will shudder
Every soul will shake with fear
Tonight, the creepiest
Tonight, the scariest
Tonight, the most wonderful night
ahhhhhhhhf the year
Anything can happen on Halloween
Your dog could turn into a cat
There may be a toad in your bass guitar
Or your sister could turn into a bat
Christmas time brings the snow
Summer time brings the sun
But on Halloween your blood begins to run
Something's funky going down now
Anything can happen on Halloween
It's better than a video
Gremlins gonna mess up every cassette
From London to Idaho
April first can be fun
New Year's Eve is a bore
But on Halloween your flesh begins to crawl
Oh, I'm losing control
Anything can happen on Halloween
Your toenails grow long and your hair turns green
Your teacher could become a sardine
Your dentist could turn into a queen.
Has anybody seen my tambourine
I may start playing
Begin the begin
The craziest night you've ever seen
This hairy, scary, creepy, crawly,
Halloween.

the zucchini song?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

THE ZUCCHINI SONG
Now down the road there lives a man I'd like you all to know,
He grew a big zucchini for the local flower show
And when the story got around they came from far and wide,
And when then saw what he had grown, everybody cried.....

Ooooh! What a beauty, I've never seen one as big as that before,
Oh Oh! What a beauty, it must be two foot long or even more.
And it's such a lovely color, so big, and round, and fat,
I've never seen a zucchini grow quite as big as that,
Oh Oh! What a beauty, I've never seen one as big as that before.

He was leaning on the garden gate the other day,
And beckoned to a lady who lives just across the way,
He took her down the garden path and showed it to her with pride,
And when she saw the size of it, the little lady sighed..

Third verse, worse than the first!
And then the flower show was held and everybody went,
To see this huge zucchini, lying there inside the tent.
Soon the judges came along to give the prizes out,
And they only took one look at it and they began to shout,
Now what did they shout???"

OOOOOH!
