the count nuthin's & capital zero are real bands that haven't gotten off the ground yet. dirt sausage was entirely fictitious but appeared often on gig posters to make it look like a better evening's entertainment value. heroin goobers, country robots, sydenham lowriders - same deal but only got one fictitious "show" per. i've been in as many fake bands as real ones, my 1st was sredni vashtar when i was 14.

Duane, you'll need to delete the line break, or just cut+paste this: http://%20www.bni.canterbury.freeuk.com/james.haslam/autographs/images/andypeters.jpg

Nick, I'm expecting a discussion on Nu-Ass music on ILM any second now.

Oh, another one: The Eric Knowles Appreciation Society. Debut Album: Fear Of Randy Bachman. Breakthrough Single: I'm In Love With Gene Pitney. (Are any of those real?)

And what about the Camel Toads?

My mate Paul says if he ever formed a band he'd call it And Emily Loved Him. Which is actually a Bagpuss quote, but hints at story telling ability and/or doomed romance.

I quite liked it really.

Not my fictional band. Knowing Paul I would say they would probably sound like Elvis Costello.

Pear Shapes.

Stars On Ice.

Fair Cops.

(the last two are triple-plus entendres, I'm slick like that....the last one is for a Rodney King tribute band)

Here are two indie-ish band name cliches, you choose what's fucking worse and more played out.........1. hiphop dj or MC that puts a "one" at the end of his name....yeah that'll get you noticed you fucking worm...... 2. shitty go-knowhere fashion garage, twee, or emo band starting with "The" and ending with an object or organism too mundane to possibly be a band name....or IS IT?!?!?....."The Favorite Sweater"....."The Toothbrushes"...."The Bookmarks"...."The Flashing Lights"....."The Lampshades"...."The Type Of Thing Ramosi Will Cut Your Dick Off For"......I also hate that shit where it's the guys name preceding "the (singular object or abstract)"...."Walter Mercado and The Timetable"......"Jimmy Agallah and The World History"....fuck em all.

Grumble Blue and The Grumblebusters, a Saturday-morning cartoon band from the Sixties. They looked like four apples covered with brown fur, and sounded just like the Ramones would ten years later. Their show only lasted half a year.

i'm not sure if it was Thrills or something but a Steve Lamacq- championed band was called the Fuzzy Felt Five.

i adore this name and if i ever form my twee thrash glitchpop group Fuzzy Felt Five is what they will be called.

The Opening Act. Assuming they got more popular, they would then change their name to the Headliners. I used to know a guy whose band was called The Special Guests. Don't know if they ever actually played more than the one show I saw.

And if I start an emo band I'm calling it Fear of Plaid.

The instrumental interplay is slightly concerning and needless to say the sound quality is through the ceiling, even in quad!

Maybe try "flickface" and see if anyone misreads it? I suppose the right/wrong font would help here.
