the "normal friends" subplot was amazing

thought they went too far w/this turns out they went just far enough

Sad that I thought of ILX when she said "oh you guys don't pile-on"

Gukbe, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 04:31 (eleven years ago) link

Brad eating the protein powder straight up was also quite amazing.

shups!

Gukbe, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 07:52 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, every time he said that I cackled helplessly.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 07:53 (eleven years ago) link

The "you guys don't create excuses?" bit is, the more I think about it, pretty brilliant - "you can leave a room without advancing your subplot for everyone's benefit?"

loved the pranks and that ending, as corny as it might be really came out of the blue. pete proposing in front of a limo on a fire, with popcorn fireworks to top it off was just crazy. this show really is going out in style (it has been confirmed that this is the last season right ?)

it was released over the summer actually, and then reaired later.

USA Network? I'd like to see it happen, but who knows if it will.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:06 (eleven years ago) link

seems a bad fit. would love to see fxx pick it up, would fit in nicely there and give them something w/ a built in audience (kinda lol) that's not nearly as exhausted as sunny

balls, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:10 (eleven years ago) link

FX or FXX makes more sense, sure.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:14 (eleven years ago) link

I dunno how tv show buying works, but would a 20th Century Fox company buy a Sony production before cooking up their own?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:14 (eleven years ago) link

USA seems like a decent fit, and they get some of the best ratings for 'light cable fare' out there, would be a smart move if they're getting into half hour comedy.

Happy Endings wouldn't fit in at ALL with the FX comedies imo.

some dude, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:28 (eleven years ago) link

I just saw that USA is set to air Modern Family repeats beginning in the fall, so I could see them pairing that up with this.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:30 (eleven years ago) link

That might be part of the deal to get Modern Family.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:37 (eleven years ago) link

same snarky look at these awful ppl m.o. - post-seinfeld template. different in that it's decidedly less bro skewed than sunny or the league (and i'm guessing whatever other shows fxx will have)(seriously did the workaholics guys even pitch fx?), but if fxx wanted to broaden their audience w/o really changing their voice this would work. would like it in the fox tuesday slot even more. thought don't trust the b was the perfect partner tbh. has a network picking up another network's sloppy seconds ever really paid off? only example i can think of is jag (and when you throw in ncis wow did that pay off) but beyond that i can't think of anything that was an outright hit ie much bigger than buffy on upn.

balls, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:38 (eleven years ago) link

kinda miss when usa network would show must see tv also rans in blocks during the day

balls, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:39 (eleven years ago) link

tbs seems pretty happy w/ cougar town xp

Mordy, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:40 (eleven years ago) link

there were about 5 years when USA Network was basically "the Wings rerun channel"

some dude, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:44 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i've had no idea how cougar town's worked out tbh, and i guess there's been plenty of examples of that happening w/ cable though usually there's some more blatant nerd element involved - stargate, mst3k.

balls, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 22:48 (eleven years ago) link

As anticipated, TBS has won the first quarter, ranking as basic cable's #1 network in primetime delivery of adults 18-34 and adults 18-49. TBS capped the quarter with yet another weekly victory, this time among not only key adult demos, but also total viewers. TBS also ranked #1 in primetime among key adult demos for the month of March.

The TBS original comedy series Cougar Town garnered 2.3 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery last week, including 1.4 million adults 18-49 and 656,000 adults 18-34.

The Big Bang Theory ranked as basic cable's #1 off-net series for the quarter with total viewers and key adult demos. For the last week of the quarter, The Big Bang Theory accounted for 19 of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts with total viewers and adults 18-49, as well as 18 of the Top 20 with adults 18-34.

two weeks pass...

I think one of my bigger disappointments if this show doesn't live on will be the loss of my feeling of vindication at Casey Wilson getting a decent series after Lorne fired her.

i kant believe it's not buffon (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 26 April 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago) link

started watching this with the episodes on hulu, so basically late season 3. two questions:
1. do they acknowledge that casey wilson's fiancee looks EXACTLY like young brad pitt?
2. do they acknowledge that you can't really have food trucks like that in chicago?

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 03:01 (eleven years ago) link

yep that's where suspension of disbelief fails with this show.
