The portishead sounds like a machine gun and is called machine gun which I like. Seems to do something interesting with the 'space' of the music? Too ignorant about terminology to phrase it better than that. I'm not at all sure the lyrics would work on their own but there's something about them embedded in this particular beat that works, same for the Kode 9 track.

Roxy Music - Angel Eyes

If you weren't a human and were trying to seduce a human, you might construct this song in order to do so, a bit like how the obelisk constructs the weird hotel room for the astronaut at the end of 2001 a space odyssey

Like the big names of 80s british electro pop without any of the things I don't like about them, seems to have an actual vulnerability and ambiguity to it, I like Smalltown Boy for the same reason

Going to avoid spoiling this by trying to say anything about it, although to sketch something out, a key word in the song might be the word 'we'

Probably the width of diction and reference points, combined with the way he says it all with an unswerving confidence that it matters a lot

Adding 'If' to the idea that people have hearts makes the idea of having a heart weird and different
