At this point, I'm just hoping ABC doesn't hate it so much they decline to release S3 on dvd.

Nah. Whatever happens, the one guarantee is that the "cultish" shows make money on dvd. No passing that up.

at the beginning of S2 I was completely and almost exclusively on the Brad/Jane bandwagon, and now all six of them are equally amazing

I still don't like Dave that much, but occasionally he gets in a good one.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:49 (eleven years ago) link

(I mean, I don't NOT like Dave...just don't think he adds a whole lot.)

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:50 (eleven years ago) link

Dave's self-satisfied "actually I am totally genius at this completely banal thing" smuggery just keeps going to elevated heights of funny to me. The Treme explanation from the Xmas episode and his interplay with his doppelganger this episode were amazing.

Knighton and Cuthbert could've been unwelcome vestiges of back when the show started off with the premise of having 'romantic leads' with 'on again/off again tension' but now that they've all but abandoned that concept except for when it's useful for jokes both have them have kept up with the rest of the cast and been very funny imo (xp)

i feel like this seasons they're more shrill from the get-go, that instead of scenes getting crazy they're all mugging and shrieking from the get-go. it's still consistently hilarious but yeah i don't see it making new friends at this point

da croupier, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:55 (eleven years ago) link

get-go

da croupier, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:55 (eleven years ago) link

in other words DJP otm -- Dave is kind of like if we were never asked to take Ted on HIMYM seriously and it was just all banality lols (xp)

this is why the "shut the fuck up" line and Dave smashing his guitar into that server at the bar slayed me so hard

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:57 (eleven years ago) link

Okay, now I'm remembering certain Dave things (^ this scene included) and he's making me giggle. Dave wins. I'm a believer.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 17:58 (eleven years ago) link

I do think there's a tendency to overrate Dave and Alex over the past season and a half because of where those characters started but let's not front; they're both hilarious.

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 18:00 (eleven years ago) link

when i picture dave now i picture him in the native american fringe jacket; that's a good way to remember he brings the lols

i really can't blame ABC for losing interest in a show that morphed from a romance plot to basically six actors in a conga line shouting '80s references, and a show where at least 50% of the jokes are about a WB has-been. yes, i am the market for those shows, but i know any show i am the market for doesn't deserve to live.

da croupier, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 18:02 (eleven years ago) link

I feel like Dave finally came into his own this season. For the first time, I don't wonder what the fuck he's doing in this cast.

But Jane and Brad, man, if this gets cancelled, they should, I dunno, co-host a variety show or something. I'd watch the fuck out of it.

well, if the characters looked like Seth MacFarlane-drawn blobs you might have a hit on your hands

"most people don't realize that new orleans is the main character."

laughed again reading this

i can understand people not liking this show, its almost entirely just a series of jokes and the characters are p hard to 'relate' to but its my fave show on tv rn, kinda bummed that i guess its going to get cancelled. also i never know that a new show has aired - didnt realize there was a xmas episode for example or that a new one aired last night?

gray star, a settlement in the remotest northwest (Lamp), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 18:24 (eleven years ago) link

It's on Tuesdays and Sundays now. New one tonight!

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 18:25 (eleven years ago) link

It will air in fragments during Emergency Broadcast Tests across the country. You gotta go from city to city to catch the episode in total.

Magic Miike (R Baez), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 18:27 (eleven years ago) link

didnt realize there was a xmas episode

I was actually surprised when that came on, because pretty much every other network show had already gone on holiday break.

as someone who just celebrated hating having an early January birthday i loved that "Christmas baby" episode

for some reason, even though i was laughing and shit before, it was 'harsh barley, bro' that slayed me this week

That was from last night's, when she was psyched up about pop star/Xela crossover promotion.

Ah right. There was another one, I think it was "undateable"

I felt that the Sunday burn off pretty much meant the end.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 02:20 (eleven years ago) link

i think at the end of HE tonight they promoted it as being on this Sunday though so i guess they're still doing it one more week?

some dude, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 02:43 (eleven years ago) link

I felt that the Sunday burn off pretty much meant the end.

Well yeah, but the part of them having more episodes left than can be aired solely on Tuesdays means we may not see them all.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 03:16 (eleven years ago) link

yeah :(

some dude, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 03:21 (eleven years ago) link

They'll air them in the summer I'm sure. Can't believe I'm losing this and Don't Trust B, which I only got into over the past two months.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 03:24 (eleven years ago) link

yeah Don't Trust has been growing on me
