"Naughty Good Girl" and "Model" to be released on Amine Edge's new label

Ben UFO filched 'none a dem' off the dissensus thread, didn't seem very interested in any the other stuff posted on there though. That sort of attitude mystifies me tbh. Like, thats a killer track but what makes it stand out from all the other countless bangers Lorenzo's been involved in?
btw Isn't Naughty good girl already out? Or at least leaked, I've got a copy of it anyway but honestly don't remember where I got it.

"None a Them" has a trippy tech-house feel that's not really commonplace in jackin, not surprising imho that a dj into that sort of thing could fall for it while being completely indifferent to "No Diggity", "Coke Diet" et al
"Naughty Good Girl" has been available for a few months now but only on bigtunes and is afaik the first jackin tune to get a re-release on a proper label (with a physical release too, maybe, perhaps?)... don't have a grasp on the label politics of jackin tbh but what i did notice is that bigtunes doesn't have a label category *at all*, it's all non-label releases and stuff that gets released on labels is usually sold elsewhere (Sleepin' Is Cheatin' catalog available on beatport but not on bigtunes for example)
"Erotic City" is fab, Lorenzo + Tom Something seems to be the winning combination atm

I shouldn't love "Coke Diet" as much as I do...

can't say i have too much time for mike delinquent as a dj (obv much love for productions) and that mix shares the vaguely nicheless and frankly remedial air of so much of the ldn urban interpretation right now
afaik anyway

I'm more surprised than anything.. I absolutely loathed the N.E.R.D. song. "Coke Diet" is ridiculous though.
Also enjoying right now:everything Hannam does as Neeko (please release this stuff!)Chris Gresswell - Deep LoveHannah Wants & Lorenzo - I Still Love You (wow!)Brent Kilner - NarcoticsPaul Lawrence - Everywhere I TurnBilly Kenny's Diamond Rings refix.Nick Hannam - SeriousCavna & Chris Gresswell - When I Move

not sure i really get the big dealio with the neeko stuff, hannam distinguishes himself on so many fronts but not so much with the regular house imo
also you subconsciously think the alias is gonna invoke some nookie or more fire crew vibes but no

ah, the french, the eternal question... do they count. 'goodie goodies' was a fun jam last year, sorta funny they've gone for 'naughty good girl' in that respect with all the trap rap jackin leanings around
props to me for putting a load of bouncy rap house on my interzone moodboard ages ago btw

You'd consider his Neeko stuff regular house?
I've only heard three of his Neeko productions (Lie to You, People Outside, and the Biggie sampling one). Part of why I like them so much is that to my ears they have a rougher, more nervous, rushy energy than some of his other productions. That, and I'm a genuine sucker for some of the acapellas that he's using.
― matt damon & the jb's (the anephric project), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 15:31 (eleven years ago) link
regular as in not far dissimilar to popular deep-not-deep hot creay/maceo plex/whatever stuff yeah
― r|t|c, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 15:40 (eleven years ago) link
I can see that, yeah. I can hear a lot of that sound in jackin overall.

it's fun to look at it from the pseudo other side as well, like i mean if i said to you caddyshack sample + zombie drop then jackin would very much be your guess
― r|t|c, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 17:33 (eleven years ago) link
but yeah, jackin protagonists' unusual fluency (as dj/producer/consumers) in general dance dialects gives a simultaneous precariousness and surety to the music that keeps it massively engaging

It took me literally 3 seconds to fall in love with this. Those strings!
― Benny B, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 23:30 (eleven years ago) link
yeah it really reminds me of like trc, screama, emvee etc breezily switching codes from bassline to funky to wherever else and back
maybe i'm belabouring the point but it gives a real sense of a pure elemental musical fluidity, something that kind of transcends the more studious evolutions of historical nuum-y ldn stuff idk
i guess this is what i mean about jackin's precariousness/assurance binary, they're not beholden to following a scenius muse like the funky lot were, they can and will make whatever they feel the need to, whatever the moment demands, and because their only concern is with what works there's the necessary guarantee of expert calibration... but at some point the jackin tribe will just shrug and abruptly melt off into the next vibe
the ldn scene in comparison is a lot more tidal and right now you could say it's still in an ebb phase, still absorbing. so you'll get all these uninspired genre-aping wannabe tech-house mixes doomed to forever be pathetically poor relations, or mishmash mixes with 'au seve' bunged in somewhere that don't quite grasp anything yet, or whatever
rambling-ass generalisations itt

In Thailand so not really keeping up with the links but that rambling ass post feelsOTM.
One of the problems with LDN is that it feels much more self-conscious at the moment, everyone tries to be a 'proper' (insert) for better or (almost always) worse.

dunno, just some guy i think
it's not a bad tune, none of his are, but how many times does techstep have to happen? vigilance people

eh it always happens sooner or later no matter how vigilant any one of us is, i'm just enjoying it all while i can
"Jeans" is wonderful! not much about its cut-up vox screams 'Todd' to me but otoh it's another great C&A one-off - i've heard a fair amount of trad jackin' house and yet i couldn't name a single tune that brings the glitz and friskiness of 2step in a remotely similar fashion

Wow I like this thread, people are talking about jackin and not parring it.Lots of really good recommendations here!
Love the hip hop vocal, and love how the bass line cycles through like 3 or 4 different synth sounds as it plays through, sawtooths, wobbles, warps, donks. http://www.bigtunesmp3.co.uk/tunes/we-are-hipsters-original-mix-by-jackin-house-mafia-jhm-2/#3
Anyone listened to Fuck Jack's House by aggz yet?http://aggz.bandcamp.com/really good to hear his stuff compiled together, Licky was one of the first tracks I discovered through bigtunesmp3. pure 'ardcore in both the cheesy/kiddy sing along chorus, and the breaks. The bass is so /gloopy/

still finding it kinda weird you linking that scotty d to the shuffleshape scene benny, are you into it?
i guess cos i don't really rate that scene at all it's more a grimace at the genre moreso than at yourself
ldn doing the exact bovine opposite of what i want it to by taking the interzone and forgetting the bubbling
― r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 14:53 (eleven years ago) link
strong irrational urge to lay some blame on pioneer for this shit, crap wannabe house dj who never truly got the uk funky vibe

I like that Scotty D but can´t say I´m into this shuffle stuff generally, but I guess its worth keeping an eye on. Thats what it sounds like to me though, can you not see it? Were you meaning to compare the Scotty D to Jackin when you posted it? If so, can´t really see it myself.
― Benny B, Monday, 14 January 2013 19:46 (eleven years ago) link
...i mean do you like the scotty d? You didn't make it clear when you posted it.
― Benny B, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:22 (eleven years ago) link
no nothing to do with jackin, i brought it up in negative comparison to regular "deep" current house to make the point about ldn's lifeless and uninspired inferior aping of it - danny daze for beginners kinda thing
i hadn't shuffle in mind but idk i'd originally assumed that scene was a little more strung-out, minimal and techy than that scotty d is for some reason
instead it turns out shuffle and the vaguer thing i was aiming at are closely twinned if not indeed more or less the same
― r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:53 (eleven years ago) link
i mean i think i can kinda detect a slightly ruffer slant on house in shuffle sets than maybe you'd normally get but still to make a buzz and a dance and etc about it all is like duhhhhhhh, have a cookie kids
kindergarten version of what circle were doing basically, with perhaps a touch more anthropological interest but still the same value ultimately
― r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 22:00 (eleven years ago) link
yeah sounds about right re: shuffle at this point. Can't say I've made it all the way through any sets I've clicked on in soundcloud yet.
mind that scotty d sounds pretty strung out and minimal to me, I think it would fit in a 'shuffle set' (whatever that is lol).
― Benny B, Monday, 14 January 2013 22:31 (eleven years ago) link
this homegrown number (the first explicitly for the london shape throwing scene? I dunno, circle didn't have any records out did they?) reminded me a little bit of OB/Fingaprint Domino effect rmx. Nowhere near as good obv (rubbish vocals!) but still. http://youtu.be/fcLAILNH7vc
but anyway, none of it really fits in with this thread.
