So, we've moved past Norman Cook now?

I mean, Fatboy fucking Slim did the same thing (without swearing, I might add) in the 80's.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJnooBS2Ors

We've now moved to a point where we're romanticizing post-No Limit, post-prison should-be washup rapists?

Not good. Not okay.

So, Mystikal is still associated with No Limit Records?

Sorry, don't see how stating a fact is funny or whatever you assholes are trying to convolute it into.

Not that I expect a real response anyway.

Austin, Monday, 17 December 2012 02:46 (eleven years ago) link

What are your thoughts on No Limit, Austin?

booming post-No Limit

epic album: the pluto (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 17 December 2012 03:14 (eleven years ago) link

Mystikal is not associated with No Limit anymore.

And furthermore, as a hip hop fan in the late 90's, No Limit was one of the major contributing factors to the downfall of the genre.

So yes, I do feel it's necessary to keep his association with the label in the discussion.

To me, it felt like the people associated with No Limit were real life scumbags. In addition to the music being everything I hated, they seemed like detestable people as well.

And then, Mystikal raped someone.

(Imagine that: someone who's biggest song was entitled "Shake Ya Ass" was imprisoned on sexual assault charges.)

I'm probably the dumbest person on this board, but even I called that one.

Sorry that some of you folks have your pseudo-critic spoons up your butts so far that you have hard time comprehending that something can be "post" in terms of timelines and have nothing to do with music.

But hey, you guys get paid to write about music. What the fuck do I know.

Rapists deserve hype.

I don't get paid to write about music. I just think the song is cool. It makes me laugh every time I hear it.

small-scale fux with (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 17 December 2012 06:24 (eleven years ago) link

See? I'm hella dumb ya'll!

I don't know shit!

No Limit was Puffy's post-Notorious B.I.G. Bad Boy on crack, equipped with too loud sixteenth note hi-hats. The worst G-Funk stereotypes magnified. If early and mid-80's synth-pop was seen as disposable and gimmicky by the mid and late 90's, this stuff should now be asserted to similarly shameful reassessments.

But somehow, Ca$h Money Records (proper spelling) is the post-apocalyptic warlord tyrant. We're still not yet emerged from those dark times. Have you read Eden by Stanislaw Lem? It's kind of like that. Best for us to repair the ship and get the hell out of there.

Nickelback and Linkin Park made me laugh every time I heard them too. Don't fall into that hole. Funny does not = good.

Son of Bazerk's album was bad, too. If the Bomb Squad's name had not been on it, I never would have felt any sort of allegiance in the first place.

The man at which to aim your contempt.

And yet, I realize my music is bad and I therefore do not try and expose anyone to it. And furthermore, I've never raped anyone.

Say hi to the bad guy.

they were really fun - the three main original members were there, they all looked and sounded good, performed in suits (and a dress), did some dancing...son of bazerk also ended with the classic "i can't go on..someone throw a cape on me" james brown thing

yeah man, i was at that show. Son of Bazerk fuckin ruled.

Mystikal guest spot on the new Mouse On Tha Track tape is really good -- how much music has he put out since getting home in August?
