I actually like Channel Orange as a piece. It starts to break down under scrutiny of individual tracks, but if you just hit play and let it go beginning to end, I find it really soothing. I've listened to it almost exclusively that way this year.

It's true, a lesson has been learned, and on top of which shame was the dawning horror that if I correct this in my itunes (the emusic files were wrong too!) then my last.fm stats will be ruined. Oh noes!

Right. If something was nominated last year, but didn't appear in last year's top 77, but would still be eligible this year, then it's fair game. In the case of Nadia Oh or Gotye, where it DID appear in last year's top 77, it's ineligible.

ah yes, I remember those heady days when "Paper Planes" squirmed its way into the top 3 of both '07 and '08 polls and the ensuing ILX soul-searching. Poor Gotye got to fall victim to that.

It's a great album, probably one of the greatest of this year for me. Listening to it reminded me of hearing Music For 18 Musicians for the first time, it felt like a journey. I know that sounds like bollocks!
