Shitting hell that's going to be amazing. And impossible to get tickets for.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:30 (eleven years ago) link

being awake at 7:30 a problem?

Mark G, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:33 (eleven years ago) link

Tate website crashing more likely to be the issue I would think.

Neil S, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:34 (eleven years ago) link

tried Dusseldorf without any luck - not sure I should even bother trying for these

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:38 (eleven years ago) link

I guess I missed Techno Pop getting released then, weird

albvivertine, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:55 (eleven years ago) link

I'm thinking 8 shows, probably 10k per show (? or is that a wild over-esitmation?) means a fairly good chance, but we shall see.

Neil S, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:55 (eleven years ago) link

10,000 people in the Turbine Hall??

Deafening silence (DL), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:57 (eleven years ago) link

plus kraftwerk.

Mark G, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 12:58 (eleven years ago) link

When I saw PJ Harvey there a few years ago it was a pretty small audience. More like one thousand, I'd guess.

Electric Café was reissued under this title in 2009.

xxp I'm appalling at judging those kind of space capacities, but I think you could get a lot of people in there...

Neil S, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 13:13 (eleven years ago) link

never forget 02/22/12

RIP my hopes and dreams

depresso (Z S), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 13:19 (eleven years ago) link

It's a question of how many people you can safely get in there given the number of exits etc. It's pretty long and very high but not very wide as venues go.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 13:19 (eleven years ago) link

i'd guess capacity is probably around 2-2.5 thousand.

jed_, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 13:48 (eleven years ago) link

Biggest issue will be the sound, no? When I've seen performances there the echo has been appalling because of the high roof.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 14:32 (eleven years ago) link

The 1986 album is "Techno Pop". It's always been "Techno Pop", okay?

Mark G, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 16:57 (eleven years ago) link

no it was supposed to be techno pop, then it was electric café and then it became techno pop

Wow. I really wanna see Autobahn or Trance Europe Express - but most people are gonna go for those first aren't they? I just wanna see Kraftwerk actually. I guess it may be easier to try for later nights - or is that not how the website / booking will work. Tactics, anyone?

kraudive, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:24 (eleven years ago) link

I expect Computer World and The Man Machine would go before Autobahn.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:30 (eleven years ago) link

(cough) Trans.

Anyway, I just really meant - I'm not sure how the site would work. Is it even worth going for the less popular nights? The whole booking system may be busy so I guess I just try for what I really want (with a willing volunteer on another computer trying another night possibly?)

kraudive, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 17:52 (eleven years ago) link

I'm probably going to go for a few nights, and take what I'm given...

Neil S, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 18:16 (eleven years ago) link

well, this is fun

jabba hands, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 08:06 (eleven years ago) link

Lest we forget (or is it too late already?)

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 08:10 (eleven years ago) link

under no illusion but am still enjoying the communal experience of F5 along with 1 million other KW fans

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 08:35 (eleven years ago) link

Kraftwerk at Tate Modern has just gone on sale and we are experiencing a phenomenal demand for tickets which is affecting our web server.

HOW UNEXPECTED

telephone only

just as well, in a way, the work system is down also.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:45 (eleven years ago) link

Tate FB page a hotbed of frustration

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:51 (eleven years ago) link

I hate buying tickets for in-demand events these days. Stress and disappointment.

Deafening silence (DL), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:53 (eleven years ago) link

At work, using my phone with a redial rate of roughly once a second, not a sniff :(

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 09:57 (eleven years ago) link

what if you just had 'turned up' there this morning?

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:15 (eleven years ago) link

Tried this number O2O8 887 8888 after somebody mentioned it on the Tate FB link and got through on my second attempt, in the queue now.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:25 (eleven years ago) link

ooh...

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:29 (eleven years ago) link

This from a dude on the Tate FB page.

Just been to the Tate , no tickets on sale there so don't bother going (due to no actual physical tickets). still plenty of digital tickets left though - but only via the phone - keep trying I guess

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:31 (eleven years ago) link

it's more fun to compute

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:33 (eleven years ago) link

Conflicting info on the new number, some people say they got tickets some wouldn't be put through, unsure what to do now.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:39 (eleven years ago) link

Trying to get a connection on the telephone line
You're so close but far away, I call you up all night and day

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 10:43 (eleven years ago) link

Got tix for night 2, wasn't allowed to book more than one night.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:03 (eleven years ago) link

wow! what number? how many redials?

ledge, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:05 (eleven years ago) link

0208 887 8888 is the one I got through on

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:11 (eleven years ago) link

That's coming through as invalid now.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:11 (eleven years ago) link

Tried for roughly 2.5 hours on the original number then I saw on FB that people were getting through on the 8888 number and got through right away.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:14 (eleven years ago) link

Oh shit!!! sorry 0207 887 8888 nor 0208

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:15 (eleven years ago) link

ah, I see what you did there!

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:15 (eleven years ago) link

Reading FB, people seem to have more luck on the 8888 number.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:18 (eleven years ago) link

oh the irony of computer servers breaking down forcing people to book KW tickets on analogue phones

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 12 December 2012 11:21 (eleven years ago) link

eh? most of these albums were recorded on analogue gear no?
