I'm sure some of it is, but most of it is because only 4 or five states turned out to be integral to his win, and everybody knew it, and the urgency to vote if you lived in, say, New York or Arizona, was somewhat diminished vs. 2008 when nobody really knew what the map would look like.

Iowa was supposed to be a battleground state, more people turned out to vote than in 2008, and Obama ended up winning 52%/46%
