Would love this to be great, but to avoid disappointment the single player experience has to be a lot better than X3, and the multiplayer has to avoid taking on Eve. that's harder than it sounds on both counts.

but boy howdy, £10 feels like a lot more than $10 in the "can I afford to throw this at something which may never exist and may be terrible, and even if it exists and is brilliant it'll be £2 in a Steam sale eventually" stakes (yes yes we are not preorderers but funders, ok)

Lord British clearly doesn't need Kickstarter. $1MM is not close to enough to make that game. He's probably just on the bandwagon for marketing reasons, and because nobody objects to a million dollar loan at 0% interest.
