"I don't know what your hours are but it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter."

That line has been popping into my head regularly this week and I always start laughing at the inflection in the second part. And "What's your level of involvement there, Charlie?"

Stuck in my head now too :) Same with 'plain as day':

'Cause I'm fired up'
'What's got you fired up?'
'Well you tell a man you ain't gonna help him with his repair and your sign says repair. Plain as day'

Yeah! He has such a weird way of emphasizing things, it's hilarious. I love the epic Radio Shack call where he asks the guy what his title is and follows up with "...and your duties include?"

He has a definite Billy Murray/Joel Hodgson deadpan quality.

i think my favorite call of all time is super nintendo (pt 1, pt 2)

the way he starts to empathize with the kid then all of a sudden switches back to his empty aggressive threats is classic. also lol at the dad's limp attempts at trying to match his fightin words

ok so this podcast is an interview with a guy about his interview with LPC. this documentary style has been bothering me for a while (and this is probably an entirely different thread), but what's the deal with narrators and reporters injecting themselves into the narrative? "so not gonna happen" podcast becomes about the narrator's journey to find the truth about wayne. in the vivian maier doc, why exactly am i watching the narrator going through airport security to board a plane bound for a place where she spent some time?

who do we have to thank for this? moore? herzog?

He released a new triple disc set this month that sold out within 10 minutes, plus he was selling the master tapes to his early discs for like $200 each. For a moment I was considering it, like "what a conversation piece!," then I realized nobody would possibly care except for me and a couple other sociopath loner comedy nerds

ten months pass...

Kind of a tense moment on the new one where what sounds like a 7 year old picks up, and I'm praying he doesnt fuck with a little kid and freak him out and make him upset. But LPC seamlessly modulates his routine and the kid immediately gets into the spirit and starts having a blast yelling into the phone and answering silly questions and it ends up being very adorable.

"Wwwhat is yourrr opinnnnion of rubberbandsss?"
"I love rubberbands!"
"Do you like to feeeed squirrels?"
"HOW DID YOU KNOW I LIKE TO FEED SQUIRRELS? BECAUSE I NAMED A SQUIRREL AND I FEED HIM! SO YES I LIKE TO FEED SQUIRRELS!"

started listening to the last few I missed, he's just as funny as ever though oftentimes a little more conceptual, for better or worse

the moment OEO mentions above is cute - I was a bit nervous about it as well but it's actually pretty cool, because for once he found someone who's taking him seriously, it's a really fun conversation

but the ones I really like are "Gentlemen's Quarters" and "Skipper's Housewarming" on 18, because he manages to make both ladies laugh uncontrollably which I think catches him off guard and causes him to break character a bit. one of them even offers to come over, and *not* because she wants to kick his ass! I don't think that's ever happened on an LPC album before
