all the bitching could be responded w/ 'I agree lets get rid of the electoral college howbout right now ps george bush'.

xp uh

That was tremendously shitty, amateurist.

How would Republicans frame their whining after 2000? Agree that they would, just trying to figure out they'd approach that. (Republicans being such sticklers for consistency...)

well he apparently wishes ill on america so he can indulge his own vision of the country as headed for satan's gates, so you know, backatcha.

Wow, I got to use Flag Post twice today!

pplains, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:06 (eleven years ago) link

i just dont want to hear abt it for four years, can you imagine how insufferable my god

That'd be quicker than 12 years of NADER NADER NADER tho, right?

I think hamateurist is overestimating the degree to which my insurance depends on the Imperial Manager. You guys still believe what the candidates SAY is what's gonna happen, that's so cuuuute.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:06 (eleven years ago) link

I don't want it to happen, but I would be very curious to see how a Romney/Biden administration played out.

pplains, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:07 (eleven years ago) link

it would make a good tv show

i didn't say anything about how or why you'd lose your insurance.

Obamacare not actually fully implemented yet but Morbs' libertarian bent aside, that was not cool amateurist.

i didn't actually wish it. just throwing his misanthropy back in his self-satisfied face.

xpost libertarian? He's lots of other -arians, but not that one.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:12 (eleven years ago) link

yeah I'm more offended by being accused of being a liberatarian!!! I want all the handouts I can get, and Obamacare has not delivered me from having to go to work almost every day w/ cancer.

however "self-satisfied," fuck you. I hate myself p often.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:13 (eleven years ago) link

cmon morbs sometimes you can have a left-libertarian streak, see: soda ban

iatee, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:14 (eleven years ago) link

I know, but in that instance the phrase "Imperial Manager" sorted of pivoted him to a libertarian-like mocking of All-Powerful Government Overlords xposts

its still unclear to me after all these years if morbs thinks his lazy ass zings are actually incredibly insightful and cutting, but it is nobel how fast you all jump to defend someone who spends all day calling you idiots, also obvs amateurist doesnt actually hope that morbs dies, he was making a point abt the nihilism which he constantly presents as the highest moral order, which is not to say its wasnt in extremely poor taste

another stinging rebuke from the master

--bob marley (lag∞n), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

"I hope you... die of cancer" was pretty much the takeaway of your post

you topped morbs' generalized misanthropy with a very ugly and specific statement, I'm not a fan of banning but I hope you realize the size of the line you stepped over

I hope a rape survivor never irritates you

xps

space dokken (Edward III), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

I do not mean to call very many ppl here idiots. I'd say my chief frustration w/ your awareness of Obama's corporate-status quo-police state-shit is that it all adds up to ZERO if you hold it in your pocket and vote for him and his ilk anyway, esp in a safe state where your vote is literally *thrown away* on behalf of things you profess not to believe in.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

and also Congress is more imporatnt anyway

what does voting green party add up to

iatee, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:22 (eleven years ago) link

Part of me feels like we should all sign some pledge and post it on this thread once a week that acknowledges that corporate influence and a plutocracy essentially runs the US and that our government is corrupt and that we don't agree with drone strikes or kill lists or infinite detention and that we really hate the idea of our tax dollars going to blow up 2 year old villagers in Afghanistan and elsewhere. But then, idk, part of me just wants to let the old man bark at the moon.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:23 (eleven years ago) link

lag∞n, not defending Morbs so much as declaring that wishing death on someone with cancer is a tremendously shitty thing to do, whether in jest or no.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:23 (eleven years ago) link

voting for things I believe in; corny I know. I dodn't wanna do it, but the oinky Long Island police took care o' that.

xxp

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:23 (eleven years ago) link

Gukbe 100% OTM right there. But, yeah, making the pledge isn't going to stop anything.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:24 (eleven years ago) link

I don't mind dark would-be jokes even from a POS like amateurist, I'd rather ppl not do a 180 on hating me for the rong reasons.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:25 (eleven years ago) link

I hope a rape survivor never irritates you

that's not a good analogy.

morbs wishes romney would win, for reasons best known to himself. which would likely mean the repeal of the recent health-care legislation. however imperfect the bill was, this would newly endanger a lot of people--or mean that people at risk thanks to lank of insurance would continue to be at risk. that means people dying. but apparently that's cool w/ morbs because we need some kind of slide into serfdom to kick us in the pants, or something. again, i was just throwing his misanthropy back in his face. i figured that was obvious. i know it was obvious to morbs.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:26 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, I don't think anyone missed the underlying point of what you were saying, amateurist. It just doesn't make what you said any more okay.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:29 (eleven years ago) link

Morbs doesn't really attack individual ILXors, just provides constant cold water in a board full of Obama-stans.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:29 (eleven years ago) link

also just as i'm not offended by morbs calling me a POS b/c he doesn't actually know me at all, morbs shouldn't be terribly offended by anything anyone says about him on here since we're only reacting to his internet persona. i'm sure IRL he's a swell guy, kind to animals and urchins, generous in bed, etc. etc.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:30 (eleven years ago) link

You really think so? xp

one bad call from barely losing (Nicole), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:30 (eleven years ago) link

The thing is, there aren't really any Obama-stans here. xpost

These threads are kind of a perfect encapsulation of the problems of the Western Left in the last 50 years though, so kudos to that.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:31 (eleven years ago) link

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:32 (eleven years ago) link

most of us are only obama-stans in morbius's manichean vision. it obv makes him happy to imagine he's the only person with a critical intelligence on here, so he goes on pretending this to be so.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:32 (eleven years ago) link

morbz: lighting farts, cursing our darkness

da croupier, Friday, 19 October 2012 15:32 (eleven years ago) link

Morbs does not punctuate his posts with "Am i the only person who sees this?/This is the only truth!" I just see him as one voice among many. I mean even i may get sick at "DRONES!" alarmism from time to time, but you can't deny it's real and it's something to take into consideration.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 19 October 2012 15:36 (eleven years ago) link

it may not be a good analogy but it would be just as offensive if you told a rape survivor "hope you get raped ::hugs::", no matter what your intent or context. not sure why you're having trouble grasping that.

morbs' dislike of obama can appear facile, kneejerk, or of the wake-up-sheeple variety, but I don't doubt that it's rooted in principle that he just spelled out pretty clearly. I miss old school lefty outrage.
