Yeah, Savile was a physically powerful and intimidating guy, former professional wrestler, also spoke darkly in the past about gangster-like activities in his early days of running clubs, people ending up with broken limbs etc

By the ttime they next do one of those I Love The 1970s programmes, there's going to be no fucker with any sort of reputation left intact enough to go on it. It'll just be Mike Yarwood and a packet of spicy Kung Fu snacks and even those are probably both borderline racist.

I really hope this doesn't end in a spate of those crappy BBC4 biopics of public figures from the past that no one gives a shit about except commissioning editors.

The rumours have been around for ages - Irvine Welsh wrote a story about a corpse-fucking DJ and TV star called Freddy Royle in the mid-90s - but as far as I know they've never been mentioned in the media properly until now (very minor reports at end of last week, but nothign like Gamba on national radio at half past 8 in the morning).

And he asked: "Who vetted the knighthood? Coco the clown?"He said the entire society was taken in by Savile - "including the Prime Minister who invited him to Chequers; including the royal family, photographed with him, he got a knighthood in this country, he got a papal knighthood."This is not just the BBC this is history, this is a man who conned an entire society," Gambaccini added.

This is not necessarily true, underage yes, subnormal.. well!
Also, I get the impression PGambo overheard some reporter discussing some 'unreliable' scoop, those guys love a bit of chinese whispers pass it on, etc.
There's nothing anyone can say about Jimmy Savile that will be considered out-of-hand. As before, the only people that know the truth are his victime, and anyone in the room with 'them'...

Saville story worse than most because literally every photo of him could be captioned "Hahahaha I got away with this shit for 60 years hahahaha" - also the vague feeling that everyone who saw him on TV and didn't immediately call the police is now vaguely complicit.
