RA 300 was episode 300 of the Resident Advisor RA mix podcast, posted a few months ago; those two are BBC Radio mixes from the 90s, going by the URLs

Had a great chat with him tonight, such an easy/enjoyable person to interview...gives you gold with minimal prodding.

Flopson: Harvey bought the Amadeo record for something like a quarter of a cent in Greece, allegedly, and is glad that he's helped it become a cult classic.

Didn't make it to the end of the show last night but had an absolute blast. He was playing Sapphire by Zombi when I walked in...hearing a record that sonically gorgeous on a soundsystem that good was pretty much orgasmic. He also dropped an insanely long/insanely incredible edit/remix of I'm a Man by Spencer Davis Group (which I think is the I'm a Man/Yeke Yeke single by Clubhouse) which absolutely destroyed the place. Yeah, great stuff, nice'n'housey at the start then went full on disco. The crowd were good too, pretty much everyone seemed to be there because they wanted to be there and not because it was the hottest ticket in town.

Obviously Harvey looked as cool as ever. Shame I wasn't allowed to thank him for giving up his time the other week to do the interview with me.

Looks as though I might have had the same cynical pessimism followed by regret for Harvey @ Oval Space as I had for the Olympics. Still holding out for a residency at Plastic People or similar.

tracer hand and i were also there! he sacked off after a while but i stayed until about 4.30 making dancefloor-friends with strangers.

i thought the sound was good but it definitely depended on where you were in the room - there were a few places of gorgeous clarity, a few places with a bad echo, a few places where it was frankly tinny.

really want to find out what track it was he played at 4.20 or so that seemed to go on forever and was stupid dancing delight.

I thought the sound was great but it was true there were "dead" spots, and sometimes a tall person would move in behind you and suddenly things would get muffled - it was a weird, morphing, multi-tentacled auditory experience which frankly seemed exactly appropriate

Harvey also used the volume knob, sometimes bringing the overall level down a bit for a good 10-15 minutes before slamming into something big; I thought it was tremendously effective and also made for a more convivial atmosphere in that you actually could chat with ppl from time to time

I stayed to the end. He actually finished with Chilly, For Your Love, but then said thanks and yes, played Save a Prayer.

Anyways, it was awesome, but I wish I'd got there for the start and left a bit earlier. I'm too old for this!

Me too :( I think you made the right call though.. imo it was a sort of moiling, unfocused vibe until around 12:30 or 12:45
