There is a reason I sit here and talk about Candlemass,Trouble, Saint Vitus, Husker Du, Sonic Youth
yeah, but there's every reason to think those acts might place. they still seem interesting to a lot of ILXors. for whatever reason, the oddball/marginal garage rock stuff i like best is a much tougher sell.
nevertheless, you've convinced me. i'm gonna vote for all kinds of goof marginalia and see what happens.
― i know your nuts hurt! who's laughing? (contenderizer), Friday, 7 September 2012 02:37 (eleven years ago) link
i, i say, i say, uh, "goofball"
Well make sure you ,and everyone else, campaigns for that stuff. I want to get introduced to new music/introduce others to new music. Best way to do that is to talk about it.

― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:05 (eleven years ago) link
I completely forgot about both the '88 EP Birthdeath and the '90 CD Ruins, which compiles Form Destroyer, half of Birthdeath, and two other tracks.
― Hellhouse, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:26 (eleven years ago) link
Form Destroyer is far better than Birthdeath, so nbd over not nominating it.
― Hellhouse, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:28 (eleven years ago) link
always hated the mastering on the ruins CD

skullflower hugely important to me in '89, think I might've done the first US interview for them back then?
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:45 (eleven years ago) link
And a former ilxor probably did the first UK interview with Melvins.
― VOTE in the 1980's ROCK POLL PLEASE! (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:47 (eleven years ago) link
Actually does anyone remember when in the UK; Melvins first got written about? Was it along with Mudhoney ?

from 88 - 92 skullflower were a nasty driven lo-fi psych rock band, then they dropped the rock part and spent 20 years making vaguely differentiated noise records
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:53 (eleven years ago) link
You know what; see when you guys talk about an album or two the next few ballots have those albums in their ballot. Coincidence? I think not.
Wonder if it would work for Zoogs Rift or Poison Idea.

Holy fucking shit, I'm scanning the remastered deluxe edition of Daydream Nation on iTunes. It sounds so phenomenally better than the 90s Geffen CD I'm used to that I'm a little in shock. The noise break on "Silver Rocket", which I'd thought of as lazy and lacklustre, has so much more detail to it.
