but the best breakfast in that area is square one, a tiny but amazing restaurant in the shadow of the big blue scientology center.

little dom's has a good brunch and reasonable prices. i'm not down w/the alcove as much because i think the food could be better and the coffee is some of the worst i've ever had in terms of taste and scalding heat but ymmv. it's a nice space. i prefer it at night when i can get a cocktail at big bar. i don't like home! i don't know why. like the alcove, it's a nice space. i've heard ok things about brunch at desert rose, y/n?

i do like the kitchen @ fountain and sunset. you know what's good albeit in echo park is 'the park'. dusty's is really good. local is as well, plus vv friendly service. some people like the mustard seed cafe, some do not, i'm in-between leaning towards the former.

square one is good but i think since the original owner sold it it's gone downhill a tad. however the OG owner is now co-running things at the revamped and improved tom bergin's.

i know it's a bit of a hike from los feliz but there are good brunches in highland park. the york has a good brunch for when you don't want to wait in line at auntie em's! no one really goes there for brunch, i've never had to wait at all.

cha cha cha is very good for brunch, @ melrose and virgil. not to be confused with cha cha lounge.

Forgot to mention earlier that Sunday ruled. Hope this weekend's get-togethers are as fun!

We like sitting outside at Alcove. After silver lake/Los Feliz/wherever we are shopping, we're going to echo park. Is the lake under construction or something? What should we do there?

Lake has been closed for over a year, it's toxic and highly dangerous.

Echo Park you can go record shopping at Origami or you can go to the vegan ice cream place or you can browse Stories and sit out back w/ a beverage and you can get a taco. You could go to Downbeat Cafe or Mohawk Bend. And you can look at the clothes in Luxe De Ville on Sunset. They sell pants that say "PANTS" on them, among other things.

have a sazerac at taix!

Echo Park Film Center store is open today, You could go in and say hi, tell them I sent you.

You could look at analog stereo equipment at Rewind if you're so inclined. <3 that place.

You could go for happy hour at Taix.

oh, re: ned's post, i'm having early birthday drinks at footsie's on saturday, if any LAXors (or out-of-town visitors) wanna swing by!

Echo Park is also a great neighborhood to walk around and stare at cute houses, like up above Alvarado or along Echo Park Ave itself. You could walk along there, stop for a beverage at Chango and keep walking waaaaaayyyy down the Ave and look at all the nice houses.

and you should definitely walk up to Angelino Heights and look at the Victorians! Almost forgot

This is usual, can be hotter too. Stays like this as late as early November sometimes.

Vik took me on a magical downtown adventure that involved watching the sunset and cocktails from the roof at Perch, the other French dip sandwiches at Cole's, more cocktails at Varnish, an impromptu photo session at the Crocker Club, and finished off with Maxaroke, where he and my sister were a bit too liberal with the delete button during certain of my song picks.

We liked it better over by the reservoir--where we were initially was impossible to park and filled with weirdos. Today brunch in Hancock park (home of sis's prospective new boss.)
