Over the course of several phone conversations with her I, too, was duped by what must have been clever recordings played in the background that sounded exactly like a child or dogs. Why ever a single mom might be a little coy about posting details and photos of her family life is entirely beyond me - surely we all have a right to every mundane, not to mention salacious detail of Luna's life and I personally deplore her decision to treat what is essentially an anonymous message board as just that. Surely we have a right to every detail and photo that we might fancy and barring that, surely Occam’s razor requires us to assuage our disappointed egos with the assertion that she’s a fiction or at least fictionally enhanced.

I am also appalled that she had the temerity to flirt with us and not thereafter immediately convene us to act out all of our most lurid and depraved sexual fantasies possible. What kind of woman is that? Surely one who deserves to be publicly defamed by a crew of petulant, self-entitled, and bitter manchildren for whom flirting must always end in sexual conquest and who were mere wee lambs led ruthlessly to slaughter by a heartless virago whose misguided priorities put her child, job, friends and family above their needs. I’m also gratified that we all agree that it doesn’t really matter whether you get to know someone and like them as a person that matters so much as whether they look, you know, hott and all, so if those photos of her turn out to be of someone else, we should just write off every conversation we’ve ever had ‘cause you know, in the immortal words of Ron Jeremy, you can’t fuck a personality.

I'd also like to congratulate the board generally on ganging up on someone and kicking them in the proverbial nuts while they were down, especially dispelling with the antiquated notion that common decency might impel us to, as she invited us to do above, “…email me (her) if you have the desire…” and get her side of the story/ies in a private and non-antagonistic forum, before joining the mob in calling for her head. It’s far quicker and more fun to bond over a little common bloodlust than to esteem circumspection, more fashionable to join the baying crowd than to stand back cum grano salis; shall we not extend our new expediency to jurisprudence and get rid of the laws of evidence, too? Why engage in inquiry when certain self-appointed persons working on all our behalf have collected ‘the facts’ from one side, done some LAPD-grade arithmetic and come up with a verdict and almost a sentence? I have heard other ‘facts’ which I’m not at liberty to divulge.

Looks to me that Luna really dodged a bullet by never meeting up with most of the poor doucheclots here mentioned, considering their reactions and I’m afraid I’m going to have to follow her lead and bid you all adieu. I don’t what the exact truth is but this board has all the feeling and subtlety of a bad William Golding knock off and I don’t know how much pain she may have caused but I have to doubt it compares with having an almost entire message board which you have blithely posted onto for years suddenly turn on you on the basis of accusations which the accuser hasn’t even bothered to inquire privately about. I was told he was going to SF anyway and she said she'd drive up to meet him and then couldn't and her phone was lost not locked away or whatever. I'm also told that they still talk. I don't know but I know I would never take this public without confronting someone in private. If anybody ever did this to me and people were doig inane stuff like doubting I had cats or wore bowties or drank too much rosé, I would be absolutely mortified. I've been online friends with Luna for a while now and she's never been anything (well, she's occasionally moody and cross) but sweet and candid and generous to me.

Michael, I understand you wanting to take Luna's side, but there several ILXors who have no reason to lie or to personally attack Luna have basically told the same stories over and over. I'm sure here kid and dogs are real, but that's not the point here. It seems she didn't just colour the truth a bit or leave some details out, but actively mislead several people, causing them a lot of shame. If there's a her side to the story, I'd definitely like to hear it, but why can't she post it here, or why doesn't she want even you to tell it?

Michael, people are not claiming that she is not nice/pleasant, or that she is not an extant woman who probably has dogs and a kid.

I really hope you won't leave over this. If you believe she's been completely honest and forthright, then enjoy your friendship with her. Others will disagree, and chances are no one will even be discussing it a few weeks from now.

I'm disappointed in the way a lot of folks are ascribing these motives to chaki and gear that I really doubt exist besides perhaps chaki being a little ornery that she stalked him at work which is totally acceptable and would frankly have freaked me the fuck out.

Michael, I don't want to seem like I'm pilling on here - I'm don't even want to seem like I'm trying to argue with you because I'm not. i just want to ask some questions; more out of curiosity than anything.
Have you ever:
• seen a face that you knew to be hers and no one else's (in person, chatting online, video maybe)?
• actually met her in real life?
• received anything from her - snail mail or anything?
• sent her anything (mail gifts cards cash)?
• read/heard anything about her outside of ilx/lj?

No one really knows for sure either way, but I'm trying to work out whether, if 100% conclusive proof that Luna was exactly who she said she was appeared in the next couple of days, it would be tragic or hilarious or cause the whole of ILX to implode upon itself.

I'm also wondering whether it would make the blindest bit of difference to the main thrust of the arguments both attacking and defending here.

Michael, if you leave, can you please e-mail me with places you haunt? I really like your ideas and writing and I think this site would be poorer in your absence, even though we've rarely spoke.
