I rock the My Little Pony, Care Bears R Gay

Worlds of Wonder (gabbneb), Thursday, 24 April 2003 02:10 (twenty-one years ago) link

they're GLAM dogs. I'd name them after Japan. the first one has a David Sylvian haircut. frivolous.

Erik, Thursday, 24 April 2003 07:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

GRUMPY BEAR was the best. he was in denial about being twee, which is the twee-est thing ever.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 April 2003 09:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

Generic-brand My Little Pony knockoffs were bestest, they had swivelly heads that did a complete Exorcist-stylez 360o. My Little Ponys always had those dumb handbags with their outfits which never fit properly and consequently looked k-lame.

petra jane (petra jane), Thursday, 24 April 2003 10:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

I loathed them both. yuck! But care bears in particular.

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 24 April 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

why is that GI Joe comic subtitled "a real American hero"? do they think GI Joe is, like, an actual historical figure?

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 24 April 2003 10:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

the fact that I, a boy, actually remember WATCHING My Little Pony explains a lot about me.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 24 April 2003 10:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

My Little Pony wins. Care Bears were contemptable even when I was 7. I had a My Little Pony grooming parlour and I loved it.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 24 April 2003 11:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

All American heroes are fictional.

hstencil, Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

Martin, Your link was great!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think everyone should take a minute to silently ponder hstencil's dramatic statement, it is akin to Apocalypse Now, in one short sentence.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

crappy pony

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

Wasn't there a movie that starred My Little Ponies and Rainbow Brite or something? I swear to God I'm not imagining this!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

Methinks we have a new winner

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

Remarkable similar to the Lemon Jelly website, in fact

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Thursday, 24 April 2003 12:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

I was a My Little Pony nut. I mail-ordered for a baby MLP before they even sold them in stores. She was purple with pink hair and didn't have any marks on her behind. I brought her to school and everyone thought I was the coolest ever for having one.

But my favorite MLP of all time was either Firefly or Posie. Later we got Firefly's baby. So then she was always a mom character and not quite as young and hip as Posie.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 24 April 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

GRUMPY BEAR was the best. he was in denial about being twee, which is the twee-est thing ever

Will I offend Julio if I suggest that he should get the role in the movie?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

Does no one remember Lady Lovelilocks?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh my god, Lady Lovelilocks was the shit!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

I totally forgot about her. I was just into the ponies. (I'm assuming Lady Lovelilocks was a little girl? If not, I renounce my MLP fandom status).

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

I got all the way out of bed and everything just to point out this out.

Not work safe, but not tubgirlish either.

jm (jtm), Sunday, 27 April 2003 22:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

If I thought I would never look at MLP the same way before that, Tep, that clinched it for me.

It also gives me an idea for my next Halloween costume.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 27 April 2003 22:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

I just wanted to point out that I wasn't the only one dirtyfying MLP :) (I don't even remember making that post.)

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 27 April 2003 22:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah yeah, blame it on the fever

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 27 April 2003 22:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 8 January 2004 01:55 (twenty years ago) link

I can't believe I actually used the phrase "Lady Lovelilocks was the shit!" ever in my life but here it is in black and white. I declare this thread brilliant. I never got told how to get one of those Strokes dogs :(

Speedy (Speedy Gonzalas), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:21 (twenty years ago) link

No, the Care Bears movie contained dubious anti-socialist propaganda.

The Care Bears Movie scared the shit out of me as a youngster.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:38 (seventeen years ago) link

">prepare to have your mind blown

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:43 (seventeen years ago) link

That kind of sounds like it scared you so much you shat a five year old.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:44 (seventeen years ago) link

pure insanity

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't recall ever saying anything to the contrary.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:45 (seventeen years ago) link

The poor kid, no one lets him go on the slide, and whenever he plays in the sandbox the neighborhood cats try to bury him.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 04:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Care Bears obviously had more cuddle potential and more personality; MLP had more play potential and glamour IMO

A B C (sparklecock), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 05:14 (seventeen years ago) link

"more play potential and glamour" means MLP is FURRY BAIT.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 6 February 2007 05:16 (seventeen years ago) link

There was also a terrifying episode of the My Little Pony cartoon in which a pony rock star was revealed to have made a pact with some evil entity in exchange for fame that involved stealing the shadows (= souls of course) of the ponies at his concerts....even his own mother's!!!! It was actually a two-parter and I only saw the first half so I never found out how he got his comeuppance.

A B C (sparklecock), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 05:18 (seventeen years ago) link

One of my main problems with Bronys is that they don't have good taste. How can they not like Foster's better? PEER PRESSURE

I don't really get this either. I quite like the new MLP show, but there are current shows which are clearly better, e.g. Adventure Time, Regular Show, P&F. But a lot of toon-geeks are treating MLP as one of the greatest cartoon series EVER made, top five material. It seems to me like a lot of them are getting too caught up in the buzz.

Duane Barry, Friday, 6 January 2012 00:48 (twelve years ago) link

I like Foster's better! But MLP is fun too, and if it gets me out of having to watch Dora or Max and Ruby I am more than happy to watch MLP. No one who doesn't have kids can understand how truly horrible most modern kids cartoons are.

Nicole, Friday, 6 January 2012 01:10 (twelve years ago) link

I suppose that if one really, really liked such items as Care Bears and My Little Pony, one might have a discerning opinion of which was better. To one like myself, this question is like asking whether I prefer my vomitus with a predominance of half-digested red cabbage or green cabbage.
