The editorial staff I work with has this bad habit of using smart-quotes on their word processing software. When their stories get published online, those smart-quotes turn into little diamonds and question marks. I send out a reminder email about every six weeks, telling them to turn that shit off, but they never do.

Maybe I should call regular punctuation "square quotes" and they'll get the idea of what I'm talking about.

So my high school friend who performs as "Tammy Pescatelli" had an interaction with an audience member in Jacksonville, FL the other night; Tammy chided her for sitting in the front row and fucking around on her phone for the whole show, and after some back and forth which included the woman saying, "I'm not actually blonde" and Tammy replying, "No kidding!
