me THE NEDSTER

No, *me* the Nedster.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 03:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Anyway, :-D Also you will have a chance to meet my sis, who is a sewing fiend and crafty soul, and will want to hear about your work.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 03:31 (fifteen years ago) link

You will all have so much fun!

I am feeling better; I just think my fluid volume must be dropping at night or something. I could not talk A. into taking my blood pressure (with my direction, since he actually only has a vague idea of how to do it). I've got a doctor appointment tomorrow, though, so at least that will be checked then.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 06:16 (fifteen years ago) link

hey ned, could be a good chance for a sf/east bay-wide FAP?

An extremely good chance, though I don't think we've ever gotten everyone in the same room.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 13:55 (fifteen years ago) link

mornin!

not going to that job is so nice but i have gotten nothing done yet today!
oh, except re-register for one of my classes that seemingly got dropped. i do not know why. everything else was still there... anyway, as i was doing that i checked and it appears my loans have gone through! now i just have to wait for promisory note to come so i can actually have them, and that will i'm sure end up being another stupid adventure.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

adventure + 6-8 weeks processing

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

tehresa, I get nothing done on any day, so you're still ahead of me! I'm glad your loans have gone through. I should call and find out about mine. I don't want to deal with that yet.

I am still dizzy, which isn't good, but I'm thinking it is a virus or something. I have a doctor appointment this afternoon, so hey, I can say I have a concern I want to address.

My Dad woke me up this morning and ranted to me about how Obama is half Arab and a liar. "I read it on the internet!" Can someone else's parents please adopt me now?

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:54 (fifteen years ago) link

oh dear. well, i can't wait what treats await me in buffalo, where my republican grandfather and not-so-educated/intelligent aunts and uncles will no doubt have plenty of anti-obama gems.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:02 (fifteen years ago) link

not that you have to be educated to like obama... they are just the kind of people that had reagan's funeral playing on 3 different tvs at the same time and would not let me switch one of them to a basketball game.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Wow, your grandparents sound like they loooooved Reagan. Three televisions worth of his funeral, though? Wow. When are you heading to Buffalo?

I know I shouldn't let the nonsensical anti-Obama stuff bother me (doesn't matter who the D candidate was: there would have been some reason the person was EVIL), but I just find the round robin of sending internet lies to their little right wing group and then forwarding them to me to be disturbing. I can only hope that there are some Republicans out there who are actually voting for McCain for reasons that aren't basically made up internet crap.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:07 (fifteen years ago) link

i am going this weekend - fri through sun. made it a whole year without a visit but i figured i should give a hello and my parents will be coming up that weekend too so it's convenient.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

A whole year without visiting sounds really good right now. Because I am cranky.

But I hope your trip is enjoyable! As long as Nancy Reagan lives through the weekend you should be okay. ;)

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:15 (fifteen years ago) link

My Dad woke me up this morning and ranted to me about how Obama is half Arab and a liar. "I read it on the internet!" Can someone else's parents please adopt me now?

No offense but if I had a relative who did that to me I would tell them to pack sand. (Then again I'm lucky in my relatives.)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:03 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm in no way offended (by you) and trust me, I was not very polite.

I will definitely be avoiding him until after the election at least. It's just depressing to be 36 and still think, "gah, my parents are IDIOTS." Between that and being in college again, I feel like I'm the oldest teenager alive.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I hear you on idiot relatives. One just asked me for money. Not that I think this person is an idiot, I love her, but gah, hate being in that position of relative bank.

Ms Misery, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Yikes. I wouldn't want to be in the position.

(Although I would like to be in a position where I had money that I could give to someone if I wanted to...)

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 18:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I won a fight with Charter Communications today! We were without cable for five days - telephone (two lines), internet, television - and during the time we waited to have the services restored we were promised a pro-rated bill.
So, they offered me $8.43 as compensation. Towards the &180.00 bill for services we pay per month.
I'm not a mathematician, but even I could see that the number of days into the monthly payment worked out to more than THAT!
It kind of takes a while of being really bitchy, but we are going to get the pro rated bill - $30.00 - which I agreed to. I still think they owe us another $8.00 but whatever. I have only so many minutes to spend arguing on the phone in my lifetime.

Chalk one up to being really aggressive about corporations taking advantage of you. I fucking hate Charter.

Otherwise...I swam in the ocean this weekend, and it was amazing! I like getting knocked over by waves. Narraganset, R.I. - I saw that island house that Remy posted as we went over the bridge.

i just made my hair dark brown again woah

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Cool! I kind of want to dye mine again, but I'm kind of not wanting to keep up with it.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Guys, why does the stage for the DNC look like the set for Starlight Express?

I so want Michelle Obama to come out on roller skates now.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:33 (fifteen years ago) link

haven't done mine since some lowlights i got in early dec, so i felt it was time to spruce things up a bit. i used semi-perm though so hopefully not too much roots/keepup?

haha will michelle obama also throw popcorn at the delegates? (that's what happened when i saw starlight express. 4th wall totally gone, y'all)

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Clitter is awesome.

aimurchie, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:45 (fifteen years ago) link

No popcorn or roller skates. ;_;

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:57 (fifteen years ago) link

A. was sweating bullets there. "They let the six year old have the microphone?!"

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, tza, your hair sounds great. Where did you find semi-perm dye? I have heard good things about L'Oreal Color Pro (I think it's called...?).
I don't know how to pick a color out of a package on the internet...

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:01 (fifteen years ago) link

natural instincts?
it looks kind of black. i hope it fades really fast.

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Hmmmmmm black would be way too dark for me. That is why I shy away from doing this myself!

You probably look great, though - just need time for your eyes to adjust.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:42 (fifteen years ago) link

it was not supposed to be black... hope it will fade fast!

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:43 (fifteen years ago) link

this is what i get for doing it myself for $10 because i was freaked out when a woman at a salon told me it would be $70 there. single process color should NOT be $70!!!

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, SEVENTY dollars?! WAHT

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:47 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah and not even a fancy place!!!! oh and it was 'starting at 70' which means because my hair is longer than chin length it would likely have been more!

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Good grief.

I can't remember how much it used to cost to get my very long hair colored, but it was way worse than that. (Yeah, it was the early 90s and it was in Minnesota, but STILL.)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:55 (fifteen years ago) link

i had my hair colored by these two really awesome girls from mpls last year. i wish i could regularly go to mpls for them to do my hair!

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:58 (fifteen years ago) link

You should!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 04:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Ironically, it would probably be cheaper than having it done where you are.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 04:10 (fifteen years ago) link

it was free when they did it here, but that was because i was hair modeling for them at a wella color studio seminar thing.

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 04:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Wow!

Well, you just have to make them come back and have you do that again... often.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 04:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Anyway.

I might make borscht tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:11 (fifteen years ago) link

3 hrs of sleep SUX

HI DERE, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:12 (fifteen years ago) link

xxpost

Please send them here too. I hate coloring my own hair.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Dan, why are you sleeping so little? (Let me guess... CRAZY JOB?)

Ned - way to go with the cooking. I've never had borscht. So I'm way impressed.

Ms. M - you're making me shy away from coloring my hair myself even more!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link

I've had borscht. It was pretty bad :(

Mark C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Borscht is bullschit.

We were basically up all last night packing and cleaning; we've got a friend staying with us tonight so the house had to be presentable as opposed to the usual post-packing disaster we leave it in. I am now taking the tactic of not reminding my boss that I'll be out so that he can't tell me to change my flight.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:45 (fifteen years ago) link

good plan. We have half of microsoft here with us in the Xcel so as a consequence none of our computers are working properly.

Ed, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

lol Ed.

Dan, good tactics!

okay, is borscht really that bad?

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 16:55 (fifteen years ago) link

Borscht is food of the gods, maybe polack/russian gods, but gods nonetheless.
