112 'Cupid' is still the best song featuring the water drop.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:11 (eleven years ago) link

maybe I just have an earlier mixed version of the 2:19 one? xp

i was thinking about starting a thread on this actually. "laundromat" all the way

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:13 (eleven years ago) link

Brainwasher, Rev and I did an outoud.fm theme night on this, it turned up some great jams.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:16 (eleven years ago) link

Ha, I forgot about that. Earliest example I can think of is Prince's "Crazy You"

The Reverend, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:34 (eleven years ago) link

anyone have a download?

I listened to the new versh on headphones and yeah the little 'pop' sound is not very noticeable, it really pops on my speakers tho

Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Thursday, 28 June 2012 01:54 (eleven years ago) link

this has been your 'pop' update

Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Thursday, 28 June 2012 01:56 (eleven years ago) link

definitely sticks out more in this mix, i feel like the bassline is more at the forefront, too.

The Reverend, Thursday, 28 June 2012 02:23 (eleven years ago) link

miguel is so good w/ backing vocals. i could listen to an entire album of his just layering oohs and ahhs w/o even writing actual "songs"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 June 2012 03:34 (eleven years ago) link

not sure how I'd restrain myself if I watched him record the "ahhhs" in "All"

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:07 (eleven years ago) link

fuck it, everybody's selfish

The Reverend, Thursday, 28 June 2012 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

Not sure the extra bit of Adorn really makes it a measurably better or worse song, but that's mostly cause it was already great.

Arch N Point also my most played 2012 track thus far.

i dunno if it feels obvious to anyone else but it seems really clear to me that "Adorn" was 3 minutes long to begin with and the first version released was truncated, rather than the ending being added after the fact. the awkward 'ooh ooh' on the original ending actual fits now.

goonrise zingdom (some dude), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:26 (eleven years ago) link

actually

goonrise zingdom (some dude), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:26 (eleven years ago) link

I kinda doubt that. Seems like his label decided they wanted to push it and needed a more conventional structure/length.

The Reverend, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:42 (eleven years ago) link

hopefully someone will ask him in an interview at some point, i'm genuinely curious

goonrise zingdom (some dude), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:47 (eleven years ago) link

ditto

The Reverend, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:54 (eleven years ago) link

Not much to add. Art Dealer Chic EPs are the shit. But hey, let's make a pact not to mention Prince for a while, let this breathe.

Popture, Saturday, 30 June 2012 07:37 (eleven years ago) link

full version doesn't make me care about "adorn" any more than i did already, no matter how much i listen that song goes in one ear and out the other

"adorn" is my favorite song of the decade after "lemme smang it"

J0rdan S., Monday, 2 July 2012 14:10 (eleven years ago) link

"Adorn" is now the most-listened to song on my last.fm

The Reverend, Monday, 2 July 2012 19:00 (eleven years ago) link

J0rdan S., Monday, 2 July 2012 22:51 (eleven years ago) link

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 2 July 2012 22:59 (eleven years ago) link

The Miguel and Jhene Aiko show is one of Myspace's two free secret shows in July, brought to you by the makers of Trojan® Charged™ condoms.

some dude, Thursday, 5 July 2012 18:06 (eleven years ago) link

nyc kids, he's playing w/ jamie xx & pearson sound on aug 4

chain the color of am0n (The Reverend), Monday, 16 July 2012 20:39 (eleven years ago) link

i just thought there was something kind of amazing and perfect about the triangulation of Miguel, MySpace and Trojan

some dude, Monday, 16 July 2012 20:39 (eleven years ago) link

haha word

chain the color of am0n (The Reverend), Monday, 16 July 2012 20:41 (eleven years ago) link

MySpace is such a harsh connotation, though. I'll forever associate that site with a whole movement of mostly disbanded emo acts I was slightly too old to fully understand

Evan R, Monday, 16 July 2012 20:48 (eleven years ago) link

lol at thread of miguel btw

Use Me sounds great.

n00bs on my damn chain (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 26 July 2012 22:19 (eleven years ago) link

"use me" is amazing

"don't look back" i'm not so sure about

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 July 2012 22:27 (eleven years ago) link

"use me" is as good as anything he's put out this year imo

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 July 2012 22:28 (eleven years ago) link

both songs are really dense... "use me" really gives off this vibe that he's, like, in the middle of a thunderstorm or something. but in a way that really works.

chorus is killer

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 July 2012 22:37 (eleven years ago) link

serious jaw drop at "use me"
