:) situation ridic weird now: i hadn't heard from her in all that time, and i ran into her (accidentally) on the street -- when i was with two friends. she said 'now isn't a good place to talk' so i said 'phone, later?' and she said nothing, and when i called her later it went straight to voice mail. i think i got dumped w/o even dating first?

remy bean, Sunday, 24 August 2008 05:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay I have no insight into this, but she sounds insanely passive-aggressive and who needs that?

Sara R-C, Sunday, 24 August 2008 05:43 (fifteen years ago) link

aw remy. i just think maybe that it is not good to talk about relationship thingies when on the street with your friends!

tehresa, Sunday, 24 August 2008 08:04 (fifteen years ago) link

i just put a very drunk tombot in a cab. i hope he does not incur horrible wrath upon his arrival home.

Mark C, Sunday, 24 August 2008 13:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Hi Mark -

Not sure about chatting today. I just got up and am feeling weirdly nauseous and dizzy. Possibly I'm just dehydrated. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing... if I am actually sick, I might just lie down again!

tehresa, Sunday, 24 August 2008 21:23 (fifteen years ago) link

we have just bought a whole bunch of book-making stuff, including the cover paper and end papers for our first chapbook!

Rubyredd, Monday, 25 August 2008 00:25 (fifteen years ago) link

Teh story ov J and RR!

(maybe not the best title)

Anyway IT SHOULD BE SAID that I am planning on a Bay Area visit from Sept. 18 to 21 or so, and that you'd best both be down for merriment and potentially drunkery.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 00:28 (fifteen years ago) link

perfect timing! we'll be in chicago the previous weekend.

we've been having fun buying cutting mats and paper and a round-corner cutter, and rotor blade and lots of TOOLS. next up is the stuff for actually hand-sewing the books (which i haven't done before, but i'm teaching myself).

we are both v v excited to me THE NEDSTER - jordan is practising saying your name in a kiwi accent :)

Rubyredd, Monday, 25 August 2008 00:40 (fifteen years ago) link

me THE NEDSTER

No, *me* the Nedster.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 03:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Anyway, :-D Also you will have a chance to meet my sis, who is a sewing fiend and crafty soul, and will want to hear about your work.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 03:31 (fifteen years ago) link

You will all have so much fun!

I am feeling better; I just think my fluid volume must be dropping at night or something. I could not talk A. into taking my blood pressure (with my direction, since he actually only has a vague idea of how to do it). I've got a doctor appointment tomorrow, though, so at least that will be checked then.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 06:16 (fifteen years ago) link

hey ned, could be a good chance for a sf/east bay-wide FAP?

Rubyredd, Monday, 25 August 2008 06:42 (fifteen years ago) link

An extremely good chance, though I don't think we've ever gotten everyone in the same room.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 13:55 (fifteen years ago) link

mornin!

not going to that job is so nice but i have gotten nothing done yet today!
oh, except re-register for one of my classes that seemingly got dropped. i do not know why. everything else was still there... anyway, as i was doing that i checked and it appears my loans have gone through! now i just have to wait for promisory note to come so i can actually have them, and that will i'm sure end up being another stupid adventure.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

adventure + 6-8 weeks processing

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:17 (fifteen years ago) link

tehresa, I get nothing done on any day, so you're still ahead of me! I'm glad your loans have gone through. I should call and find out about mine. I don't want to deal with that yet.

I am still dizzy, which isn't good, but I'm thinking it is a virus or something. I have a doctor appointment this afternoon, so hey, I can say I have a concern I want to address.

My Dad woke me up this morning and ranted to me about how Obama is half Arab and a liar. "I read it on the internet!" Can someone else's parents please adopt me now?

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 15:54 (fifteen years ago) link

oh dear. well, i can't wait what treats await me in buffalo, where my republican grandfather and not-so-educated/intelligent aunts and uncles will no doubt have plenty of anti-obama gems.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:02 (fifteen years ago) link

not that you have to be educated to like obama... they are just the kind of people that had reagan's funeral playing on 3 different tvs at the same time and would not let me switch one of them to a basketball game.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Wow, your grandparents sound like they loooooved Reagan. Three televisions worth of his funeral, though? Wow. When are you heading to Buffalo?

I know I shouldn't let the nonsensical anti-Obama stuff bother me (doesn't matter who the D candidate was: there would have been some reason the person was EVIL), but I just find the round robin of sending internet lies to their little right wing group and then forwarding them to me to be disturbing. I can only hope that there are some Republicans out there who are actually voting for McCain for reasons that aren't basically made up internet crap.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:07 (fifteen years ago) link

i am going this weekend - fri through sun. made it a whole year without a visit but i figured i should give a hello and my parents will be coming up that weekend too so it's convenient.

tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

A whole year without visiting sounds really good right now. Because I am cranky.

But I hope your trip is enjoyable! As long as Nancy Reagan lives through the weekend you should be okay. ;)

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 16:15 (fifteen years ago) link

My Dad woke me up this morning and ranted to me about how Obama is half Arab and a liar. "I read it on the internet!" Can someone else's parents please adopt me now?

No offense but if I had a relative who did that to me I would tell them to pack sand. (Then again I'm lucky in my relatives.)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:03 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm in no way offended (by you) and trust me, I was not very polite.

I will definitely be avoiding him until after the election at least. It's just depressing to be 36 and still think, "gah, my parents are IDIOTS." Between that and being in college again, I feel like I'm the oldest teenager alive.

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I hear you on idiot relatives. One just asked me for money. Not that I think this person is an idiot, I love her, but gah, hate being in that position of relative bank.

Ms Misery, Monday, 25 August 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Yikes. I wouldn't want to be in the position.

(Although I would like to be in a position where I had money that I could give to someone if I wanted to...)

Sara R-C, Monday, 25 August 2008 18:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I won a fight with Charter Communications today! We were without cable for five days - telephone (two lines), internet, television - and during the time we waited to have the services restored we were promised a pro-rated bill.
So, they offered me $8.43 as compensation. Towards the &180.00 bill for services we pay per month.
I'm not a mathematician, but even I could see that the number of days into the monthly payment worked out to more than THAT!
It kind of takes a while of being really bitchy, but we are going to get the pro rated bill - $30.00 - which I agreed to. I still think they owe us another $8.00 but whatever. I have only so many minutes to spend arguing on the phone in my lifetime.

Chalk one up to being really aggressive about corporations taking advantage of you. I fucking hate Charter.

Otherwise...I swam in the ocean this weekend, and it was amazing! I like getting knocked over by waves. Narraganset, R.I. - I saw that island house that Remy posted as we went over the bridge.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Guys, why does the stage for the DNC look like the set for Starlight Express?

I so want Michelle Obama to come out on roller skates now.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:33 (fifteen years ago) link

haven't done mine since some lowlights i got in early dec, so i felt it was time to spruce things up a bit. i used semi-perm though so hopefully not too much roots/keepup?

haha will michelle obama also throw popcorn at the delegates? (that's what happened when i saw starlight express. 4th wall totally gone, y'all)

tehresa, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 02:35 (fifteen years ago) link
