I'm actually kinda scared I got my FAVOURITE song. Like, so much to live up to. Almost wish I'd got a 2nd or 3rd choice so it wouldn't matter so much to me if I mucked it up.

But not enough to change now, mind.

Lee, just saw yours and your first choice is okay.

I just set this email address up and already, gmail is sending hotmail addresses to my spam folder. I'll try to keep an eye out for that, but beware.

AOL users, you too, just in case.

I just sent one in. I apologize for only picking one song, but that's cuz if I don't get it I'll have to reconsult on other options with my partner in crime.

Got my first choice, which means I have like six months to figure out how to actually play and record this thing.

Got my first choice, which didn't surprise me. Equally pleased and worried.

CONFIDENTIAL TO Soccer mom, hopeless and lost, in utter despair: That song has already been taken. Also, I don't have your email.

You can submit songs via ILX webmail through my pplains name, but I likely won't see it for awhile and I can't respond to robot @ ilxor.

pplains, Saturday, 2 June 2012 04:42 (1 year ago) Permalink

Got my #2 choice, lots and lots of chords, luckily I cheated and found them on the interwebs rather than sitting down and working it all out myself, fuck that.

pp, I figured out after the fact to send it to the correct email, so you have already responded and approved mine. We're good.

DJP and Dan Peterson should start a funk based Beatles cover band called The Dan P Connection.

I had to tell Soccer mom, hopeless and lost, in utter despair "Sorry dude, Dan Peterson requested your weird song first."

pplains, Saturday, 2 June 2012 19:29 (1 year ago) Permalink

I'm unutterably stupid. How does one figure what songs have been claimed and what haven't? Or is it simply submit and pray?

Matt M., Saturday, 2 June 2012 20:13 (1 year ago) Permalink

Submit three choices and I'd bet you'd do fine.

Roger.

Matt M., Saturday, 2 June 2012 21:52 (1 year ago) Permalink

Two more songs, and we'll have as many tracks as the White Album.

Also, from the first four albums (UK), we have only ONE song claimed.

I've already bitten off more than I can chew.

Matt M., Wednesday, 6 June 2012 14:09 (1 year ago) Permalink

I've been a little intimidated myself, even though I haven't even officially picked a song. Crüt's link up there, about which chords with which songs and the arrangements and the oh my makes me feel like I'm going to try to re-write Shakespere.

Just gotta remember that no one's going to top the most successful band in history with a four-track in their bedroom. I sure as hell hope that no one notices that I can't play a minor chord on my bass. None of that was our intention going into this anyway, I don't think.

pplains, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 14:13 (1 year ago) Permalink

yeah this is basically going to be me setting aside an hour or two and seeing what happens. and whatever happens, you all will have to listen to!

tylerw, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 14:17 (1 year ago) Permalink

Good Lord, I just forced myself to listen to that Phish White Album show for the first time and I think ILX is going to be just fine with this.

2 weeks pass...

I'm keeping an eye out for any two or more songs that sync together. For example, if someone claims "Mean Mr. Mustard" and someone else gets "Polythene Pam", I'll let those two ILXors know about the other.

27 songs and holding for now.

Here's a list of albums that haven't been represented yet by ILXors:

Still plenty of choices from the other albums too. Let me know which one you want to do. ilx.beatles.comp @ gmail.com

submission sent!

Tickled pink about the tracks I've heard so far.

Remember, you've got another four months to claim a song (12/1) and five months (1/1) to get the song sent to me. The comp will be released to the world in Feb. 2013.

I still haven't picked mine out yet. I'll think of one, spend a month working it out in my head, get bored, move on to another one.

3 weeks pass...

I'm a little late, but I just noticed a new submission from earlier this month.

Not a song claim, but the entire song itself!

Fortunately, no one had staked it yet and anyway, it's been the highlight of my morning.

I would still advise you to claim a song first to make sure we don't have any repeats. Still lots of time.

1 month passes...

Tomorrow is the 72nd birthday for John Lennon. Next up on the birthday calendar will be George's 70th in February.

And that's also the day that the ILX Beatles Comp will be released to the world.

So far, we've got 29 songs claimed. We've even got four tracks finished and already sent in.

Here are the deadlines coming up: Dec. 1 will be the last day to claim a song. We're doing this privately, so email your claim to ilx.beatles.comp @ gmail.com. I'll only be able to honor the claims that come in through that email address.

Give me three requests. You'll get your top request as long as no one else has claimed it first. I'll confirm your request, usually within a day or so, if not the hour.

After Dec. 1, no more claims will be accepted. The next deadline will be Jan 1 to get your recorded track sent in.

And then on Feb. 25, we'll have our big release party online.

So again, tell me what song you want to do at ilx.beatles.comp @ gmail.com. The more the merrier, a splendid time guaranteed for all.
